105: How To Run Profitable Facebook Ads To Sell Physical Products Online With Miracle Wanzo

by Steve C @ The My Wife Quit Her Job Podcast

Today I have Miracle Wanzo on the show. First off, isn’t that the coolest name ever? When I first met her, I had assumed that it was her pen name but nope, her name is really Miracle and she is one of the sweetest, most down to earth person you’ll ever meet. Anyway, I met Miracle at the Ecommerce Fuel Live event in Nashville a few months ago and I’m glad that I did. Miracle runs HipUndies.com where she sells women’s undergarments and lingerie. Now normally, I tend to think that selling clothing or anything that has to do with fashion is very difficult and challenging. In fact, I tend to discourage the students in my class from going this route because it’s extremely competitive. But Miracle has pulled it off and does extremely well with her fashion line. Four Important Factors to Consider Before Letting a Domain Expire

by Isaac Pfitzner @ WordJack Media

A lot of companies register a variety of domain names, not just the domain address for their primary website and corporate email, but also other domains that are like the primary domain. Think through these situations, and I’m sure you’ve registered at least one domain in one of these categories: You own the “.com” domain but you also want to register the .net, .org, .info and .ca versions. You have a shortened business name and a full version — for example, wordjack.com is your official website and you also register wordjackmedia.com. You once registered a domain name for a promotion and promoted that to a specific audience (for example wordjackspecialoffer.com). Your website was once addressed at a different domain name, but you rebranded or moved to a new domain and now the former domain is just an extra. Now you might have a situation where your annual renewal is due to be paid and you’re debating whether that domain is still useful to you. Here are three things to consider before you let that D\domain expire: Past Use of the Domain Is this a domain that you’ve ever communicated to people in the past? Could it be included on some […]

5 Ways to Get Quality Customer Feedback

by Amy Bryan @ WordJack Media

Analytics and data can provide all sorts of insights into what your customer base is looking for, but wouldn’t it be nice if your clients flat out told you what they wanted and thought? Enter customer feedback! Customer feedback helps you understand the “why” behind what people are doing and what they think your business is doing well or not so well. Not only that, but great comments can be quoted on your website, online profiles, and happy customers may even be willing to act as a live reference for future clients. Plus, just taking the time to collect good feedback shows your customers you care about them and what they have to say. Even the aggregated result of feedback can make great comments for your promotional messages. For instance, from a recent WordJack client survey, we were delighted to learn that over 90% of our clients said they would recommend us to a friend. You can bet that we’ve quoted that number to potential customers and employees since then! If you’re stuck on how to get better feedback and you want to reap the rewards that come from collecting it (like those listed above), here are five proven strategies […]

The Importance of Disavowing Bad Links And How To Do It From Start To Finish

by Brandon Budz @ WordJack Media

What are backlinks? And aren’t they all the same? In the world of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), offsite activities such as building links to your website (linkbuilding) are quite important to help make sure your website ranks well for your desired keywords. But there is something you should keep in mind when thinking about linkbuilding, which is that not all links are good links; in fact, sometimes having a link from a bad source pointing to your website can actually have a negative impact on your overall search engine ranking. One way to look at it is to think of your ranking like an election and the links to your site as the votes. If you get a lot of votes (links) you are more likely to win the election (get good rankings), HOWEVER, if most of your votes are found to be fraudulent (bad links from bad sources), then those fraudulent votes could easily backfire on you and cost you the entire election (drop your rankings). Why would I have bad backlinks pointing to my website? Because of this, not all links can be looked at the same, and when this happens, it is best for you to disavow […]

Basics & Benefits: How Blogging Helps Your SEO

by Amanda Carroll @ WordJack Media

It may seem like just about everyone keeps a blog these days, with some posts being more routine than others. But not all blogs are created equally, and when it comes to keeping your business relevant online, your blog can be a big help. If you are looking for ways to improve your rankings in online searches, blogging can be a great way to use SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to achieve your goals. Additionally, blogging is a great way to continually connect with customers and be their source of good advice when they’re looking for expertise. Here are three basic SEO benefits that you can begin incorporating immediately as part of your blogging process: 1. The more often you use a keyword, the more relevant your entire website becomes. Example: Your website has a dedicated page for your home remodeling services, with “home remodeling” being your targeted keyword. Your page uses the keyword five times. You then write 5 blogs about “home remodeling”, using this same keyword three more times per blog. Your website now has your targeted keyword listed over 25 times, more than doubling the potential to improve your website’s online rankings. 2.The more pages that include your […]

Even if you don’t see the results right away, taking a more personal tone to your Facebook content can help to increase your customer base and encourage repeat business. DON’T: Use “In-Your-Face” Images While using pictures can certainly be […]

Glen and I actually go way back to 2010 where we were members of the same blog voting group and we’ve loosely kept in touch since. He’s got an amazing array of articles that go into incredible depth. I want to say a short post for him is like 3000 words. And the reason why I follow Glen’s work is because he talks about topics that other people would not dare talk about. For example, he talks about his experiments with private blog networks. He does in depth analysis on link building, both white and grey hat tactics. He doesn’t write very often, but when he does he always drops an atomic bomb in your brain. And with that, enjoy the ...

The Top 9 Mistakes Of Ecommerce Store Site Design (And How To Fix Them)

by Steve C @ MyWifeQuitHerJob.com

Designing a high converting website is one of the hardest aspects of selling online. Not only do you have to step inside your customer’s brain and speak his or her language but you also have to guide them to the right product and close the sale. After critiquing almost a hundred websites over the course of running my online store course, I’ve discovered that most people make the same fundamental mistakes with their site design. Here are the most common problems and how to fix them. Mistake #1: No One Can Tell What You Sell You should always design your website with the assumption that no one knows who you are or what you sell. In fact, when someone lands on your site for the first time, you have about 5 seconds to educate them or they’ll leave. After all, if they don’t know what your product does, ...

Is The Customer Always Right Just BS? How Would You Handle These Customer Service Dilemmas?

by Steve C @ MyWifeQuitHerJob.com

If you’ve been selling physical products online for any length of time, chances are you’ve hit a few customer service snafus along the way. Even if you run a robust operation, processing large volumes of orders inevitably results in mistakes and situations that are beyond your control. For example, most online stores rely on 3rd party shippers to deliver their products to the end customer. Well what happens when there’s a breakdown with your shipper? When something doesn’t get delivered, is it the shipper’s fault or yours? When a customer makes a complaint, do you trust that they are telling the truth? With the holiday selling season right around the corner, these problems only get amplified. For example… You have to deal with customers wanting to make returns. You have to interact with frustrated people trying to make last minute purchases for their friends and loved ...

Now I’ve had Pat on the show once before on episode 41 where we talked about how to make money with every online business model out there. In fact, Pat was gracious enough to come dressed for the occasion as he wore Stanford cardinal red and a beat cal button during the interview. I mean how cool is that? To be able to forsake his own college for a superior school is just a testament to his awesomeness. Anyway, Pat runs the very popular blog SmartPassiveIncome.com and what’s cool about Pat is that there’s always something new going on with his businesses. Last month, he brought in almost 108 thousand dollars from various sources such as affiliate marketing, iphone apps, ebook sales, software sales, podcast sponsorships…you name it and he’s done it. The Power of Positive Reviews on Your Google Local Listing

by Isaac Pfitzner @ WordJack Media

WordJack exists entirely for the purpose of helping local businesses with their web marketing. We understand local business marketing is specialized, and what may be important for a big national company when it comes to search engine optimization may be totally different for local businesses. A quick way to the top? Often when buyers search for a local service provider on Google, they are presented with a subset of results with a map beside them. This is known as the Google local pack. Often appearing prominently in the Google local pack can be even more beneficial than appearing highly ranked in organic Google search. Do whatever it takes to claim your local listing For a long time, WordJack has been a strong believer in the value of an updated, accurate, and complete Google local business listing. In my personal life, friends who run local businesses often ask what the single most important thing for them to do from an online marketing perspective is. I often say that if you’re just going to do one thing, you should make sure that your Google local listing is published as completely and accurately as you can possibly make it. Google’s “Get your business […]

094: How To Make 7 Figures Creating YouTube Videos With Joe Jo Of Just Kidding Films

by Steve C @ The My Wife Quit Her Job Podcast

Today I’m thrilled to have Joe Jo on the show. Joe and his partner Bart started JustKidding Films on YouTube back in 2007 and today have over 1.5 million subscribers. Not only that. In addition to Just Kidding Films, they also have 3 other channels JKParty, JKGamer and JKNews which all boast anywhere from 700K-1.5million subscribers each. All told, I think the 4 channels have a combined 4 million total subscribers which is incredible. If you follow me you know that when my online store was featured on the today show, I had 7X the revenue that day and the today show only gets 1.74M viewers per day. Think about it this way, a lot of cable and network TV shows don’t even have this high of a viewership so it’s pretty ridiculous that they have such a large audience. In fact, they are pretty much running a popular TV network ...

by Steve C @ The My Wife Quit Her Job Podcast

Grant Baldwin is someone who I’ve known for a while but we didn’t actually meet face to face until recently at NMX. In fact, I was featured on his podcast “How’d You Get Into That” several months ago where he interviews unique business owners. Not only does he run a popular podcast but he’s also a professional motivational speaker for students. And the man is very prolific. I think last year he spoke at 60 events throughout the year travelling all across the country. So here’s what’s cool about Grant. Giving incredible speeches all across the country is lucrative but it is not scalable because you have to physically be there. AdWords and Keywords – Putting Yourself in the Shoes of Your Customers

by WordJack Media @ WordJack Media

Online marketing is an important part of most companies’ path to online success, and one of the main aspects of this is choosing the best possible keywords to target with your online activities (organic rankings and PPC campaigns). The issue is that many companies fail to put themselves in their customers’ shoes when picking their keywords, which leads to them targeting less-than-ideal keywords. What is a keyword/keyphrase? Simply put, a keyword is a single word which users may type into a search engine when trying to find a product/service you may offer, such as “Plumber”. A keyphrase is the exact same thing except it contains multiple words strung together, such as “Find a Plumbing Contractor”. To improve your chances of ranking on the major search engines when a user types one of these keywords/keyphrases, you have to ensure that you have a page on your site that mentions the exact keyword within its content (ideally multiple times to maximize results). By doing this, you are showing the major search engines that a page on you site is relevant to that keyword/keyphrase, which means you are far more likely to rank well for that keyword on the major search engines such […]

SEO: 10 Ways to Optimize Your Online Store for the Search Engines

MyWifeQuitHerJob.com

The eventual success of your online store will depend on several factors. Probably the single most important factor will be where and how you are indexed in the various search engines. I've compiled below a comprehensive list of items that your online store should focus on to obtain the best rankings possible. In my experience, most online stores do not follow all of the rules shown below. Implementing these 10 little SEO techniques on your own online store should give you an advantage over the competition. Make Sure All of Your Internal Links Point to the Same Domain By the same domain, I'm referring to whether you want your site to be known as http://www.yourstore.com or http://yourstore.com This is important because the search engines actually treat both urls as different sites. If you allow the search engines to index both versions of your site, you will be effectively diluting your page rankings. Even though Google now has an option in its webmaster tools to select whether to
