Case Study – Sculpere Yoga & Ballet – Lead Generation

by Brian Nagele @ SEO Digital Group

On January 27th, 2017 we ran a 3-day campaign for Sculpere Ballet Body & Yoga Mind, a Yoga and Ballet Studio owned by Cristina Espaillat, located in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia. The campaign objective was to generate leads for a free class that was being offered. We used targeted pay per click facebook ads and a quality landing page for the campaign. The first part of the process is creating a custom landing page, specifically for the campaign. The landing page we created for Sculpere is very easy to navigate, has a clear call-to-action, mobile and desktop friendly, pixeled so we can retarget, and personally branded. If you want to check out the landing page click the image to the left. If are interested in a free yoga class at Sculpere, sign up here.     The next step, we created a couple different ad sets, both targeting women within certain zip codes living in the Northern Liberties area. We split tested an ad set with different zip codes against another ad set with those same zip codes but with added interests to narrow the reach. We also A/B tested the ads against one another, testing the copy, images, headline, and call to action’s within the advertisement to see which ads Cristina’s target market responded best to. An example of one of our ads can be seen here -> Sculpere set a lifetime budget of $25 for the campaign. Within those 3 days, we reached 3,282 people with their ads. On average the cost-per-click was $1. We generated 23 total link clicks, and 8 qualified leads with a very minimal budget. The final budget at the end of the 3 days was $23.34. Cristina paid $2.91 per lead. Most people waste money on Facebook ads because they don’t know the inside secrets. Imagine...

Conversion Optimization: What Boomerang Champions Can Teach Us

First of all, yes: There really are boomerang competitions and champions! In fact, a member of the DAGMAR Marketing team has met numerous premiere boomerang athletes with international competition titles under their belts and has written extensively about this curved stick that returns. And, although this may be a novel twist on the subject, we’d like to suggest that the primitive crafters of boomerangs were in fact among the earliest conversion optimizers. How to Steal Your Competitor’s Best Backlinks

by john13 @ Solar Flare Marketing – Phoenix SEO

One of the most closely guarded secrets in the business world is Google’s top secret algorithm that it uses to rank websites in its search results. Most of the Google employees don’t even know the exact details, and the self-proclaimed “SEO experts” typically know even less. But, I’m going to show you a valuable trick that forces Google to reveal the most important ranking factors for your most valuable keywords and how you can use this information to steal your competitors’ best backlinks. What’s The Trick? Type any search into Google and along with the results, Google also shows which factors are most important to their rankings. When the results are delivered, Google is forced to show their hand. The websites that Google delivers as the top 10 search results reveal which factors the algorithm considers to be most important for that particular keyword. You will have to have some basic SEO knowledge and be willing to dig into the data, but Google has just put their algorithm on display for you to view. With the ten results on the first page and a little research (or maybe a lot of research), you can get a really good idea of which factors Google deems as most important for high rankings. Since there are hundreds or possibly thousands of ranking factors in Google’s algorithm, the complete analysis here isn’t possible. However, I’ll show you one example of the research method that you can put in place to spy on your competitors and give yourself some insight into the algorithm. Then I’ll show you how to steal your competitors most powerful backlinks. One of the most important ranking factors is the title of your website. The picture below is the search results for the keyword “Chandler Dentist”. The first line in each result is the title of the page that was created by the webmaster. This is one of the easiest items to change on your website and by using this method, you might be able to jump some of your competitors that don’t have their page title optimized correctly. So what do the results show us? Well first off, these results verify that the page title is very important to Google. Every one of the websites on the first page includes the term “Chandler Dentist” or a very similar term, but every single title include the word “Chandler”. So that tells us if you’re a dentist in Chandler, and you want to be on the first page of the results, you’d better have the word “Chandler” in your title. What about the word dentist? From the results, we learn two things. The first is that you don’t need to have the exact term “Chandler Dentist” in your page title for your website to rank highly, but you should have a variation of it. The second thing we learn is that the algorithm is advanced enough to know that the words “dentist,” “dental,” “dentistry” etc. are all essentially the same. Knowing this, […]

What is SEO and Why is it Important?

by john13 @ Solar Flare Marketing – Phoenix SEO

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process building the strength and trust of a website to rank higher in the search engine results. The organic results are simply the free listings in the results. Although there are many search engines, Google controls almost 70% of internet traffic so that should be the main focus of any SEO campaign. Google has become part of our lives. Think about it, if you want to know something, what do you do? You Google it. That’s the way almost everyone looks for information and services today. You’d be hard pressed to find an encyclopedia or Yellow Pages these days, but chances are you won’t have to reach too far to grab your cell phone or your computer keyboard. If you want to know how far away the moon is, where the closest bagel shop is or which private school to send your kids to, you’re likely to type your search into Google and click through the results. But, if you’re like most people, you won’t ever make it past the first page of the results. So the formula for success is clear. Ensure your site shows up on the first page of Google for the terms that most people would type in when looking for your business. How Does Google Work? Google is a relevancy based search engine that makes 99% of their income from selling Pay-Per-Click Ads (PPC) that show up on the top of and on the side of the organic results (free results). Google really wants to show the MOST RELEVANT websites for the keywords that someone types in their query. Their entire business model is solely based on providing the MOST RELEVANT results so users will choose Google when they are performing a search. The more traffic that Google can control on the internet, the more they can charge businesses for their paid advertising (PPC). Notice I said “Relevant” and not “Best”. Google has no way of knowing which restaurant has the best Mexican food, which plumber provides the best service or which private school gives their students the best education. Google uses a complex, probability based algorithm with hundreds if not thousands of individual ranking factors to determine relevancy. Although the ranking factors and their importance have changed over the years, there are two main factors that Google has to take into consideration. What’s Google Looking for Anyway? The biggest factors that Google uses to rank a website are called “on-page” optimization and “off-page” optimization. Although Google’s algorithm is top secret, we can get a really good idea of what they consider important by looking at the sites that currently rank on the first page. These are the sites that Google considers the “most relevant” to the search query and we can then reverse engineer the site to determine why it’s ranking so well. Once we have that information, we can use it to then rank a website for the same terms by taking what we learned and making […]

What Is Google RankBrain?

by john13 @ Solar Flare Marketing – Phoenix SEO

There are a few important aspects you should know about Google RankBrain, Google’s new machine learning technology. You should know what it is, how if affects you and how Google plans to use it. What Is It? – RankBrain is an artificial intelligence program. It’s designed to help Google process search queries. The program can embed a lot of written language into vectors, or mathematical entities, and it does it in a way that the computer can understand. RankBrain can do this because it uses artificial intelligence, what this program does is help the search engine process queries that you and other Google users make. How Does It Work? – The way RankBrain works is simple. If you type a specific search query into the Google search engine, RankBrain may not be familiar with that word or phrase. If that’s the case, it will guess what searches (phrases or words) may mean something similar, and after it has done this, it will filter the results for you. There are some search queries that the program may not be familiar with, but RankBrain should be able to effectively handle such search queries. A good example of this is if you typed into Google a phrase such as how many teaspoons are in a cup, then RankBrain would show you results, but these results will be based on various things. One of those things includes the country where you did the search. That query may lead to RankBrain favoring results in Australia over America, and this is because there are various measurements in each country, and these measurements are different. What Is RankBrain A Part Of? – It’s important to note that it appears that RankBrain is part of the overall search algorithm called Hummingbird. You can think of RankBrain as being a car part that fits under the hood of the car, and Hummingbird is the car. It’s also worth mentioning that RankBrain doesn’t take care of all searches because the overall algorithm handles all the search queries. How Important Is RankBrain? – As you are aware of, there are many signals that play a role in how and where a web page ranks in the results. Some factors are more important than others, and one of the most important signal factors is now RankBrain. As a matter of fact, some search engine optimization experts believe that the it is the third most important ranking signal, we are currently testing this and should have some results soon. Other Information– What RankBrain is doing is refining search queries. This could potentially be great news for many website owners and people who use Google. Remember, Google handles millions and millions of search queries per day, so RankBrain could be very useful for both Google and Google users. There are some important things you should know about RankBrain that are important for your future online success. RankBrain is highly sophisticated, and many users may notice a big difference in how search results are returned […]

6 SEO Tips To Boost Your Website Traffic

by john13 @ Solar Flare Marketing – Phoenix SEO

Search engine optimization in Phoenix the most common strategy that helps local websites to gain popularity and increase visibility online. Although SEO has been around for years, no one has been able to decode fully the methods and algorithms that major search engines (Google, Bing, and Yahoo) use to rank websites. Nonetheless, Google occasionally releases updates that webmasters and marketers can use to ensure their websites get indexed properly and to promote their visibility online. Discussed below are some of the factors and strategies that you should adopt to optimize your pages properly and to gain higher ranks and visibility through search engines. 1. Proper keyword research and optimization: Keywords play a significant role on how a website’s visibility will be to both search engines and organic traffic. This is the reason you should do a proper research for your keyword then optimize it for search engines and organic traffic. Although multiple keywords are still valuable, Google values long tail keywords, as they are easy to find. It is, for this reason, you should identify the best and most converting keyword to optimize for SEO purposes. Include this keyword in meta descriptions, Page URL, image description, and video captions. 2. Relevant and informative content: Content does have a great impact and influence on organic traffic. Search engines primarily focus on quality and informative content when ranking websites. Content published on your website, blogs, and social sites should also be optimized for search engines. This can be done by incorporating keywords, and especially long tail keywords, in the content. You can also promote your website visibility by creating and publishing content in the form of articles, eBooks and even infographics about your pages. 3. Video content marketing: Video content is one of the best converting marketing strategies online. Billions of people log into video sharing sites to watch promotional, educational, and entertainment videos on their personal computers and mobile devices. You can tap into this traffic by uploading educational video clips on this video sharing sites to attract target audiences. Most people also prefer watching videos, as they are easy to understand and comprehend as compared to reading long texts. Remember to include a call to action button and captions in the video clips to direct traffic to your site. 4. Mobile responsiveness: Billions of people today use their smartphones, tablets and iPads to access the Internet. In order to tap into the huge traffic coming from these handheld devices, webmasters are advised to design and create mobile responsive websites. Mobile responsiveness enables mobile phone users to access the websites and be able to navigate comfortably without having to struggle with a desktop version of a website. By doing this, you should be able to attract more traffic that you can fathom. 5. Social media marketing: Social networking platforms receive overwhelming traffic as users’ worldwide log on to chat and be informed through the same. Optimizing your website for social networking sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest among […]

What is SEO Part 2

by john13 @ Solar Flare Marketing – Phoenix SEO

Search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing crawl millions of websites and indexes the best sites for specific keywords. The sites with the most number of quality backlinks will rank on the first page of the search engines. This is where SEO comes in handy. Building quality backlinks is a part of a good search optimization strategy. This is called off-page optimization. Other other important factor is on-page optimization. On-page optimization and off-page optimization both are extremely important to rank a website higher on the search engines. On page SEO starts with the designing of a website. You need to keep in mind about SEO when designing the website. The posts should contain proper title tags, descriptions and keywords. If not, search engine spiders will not know what your website is about. The content of the page should be relevant and unique. The content should be written for the visitor and not the search engine. Don’t stuff the keywords in the posts. This used to work in the past, but doesn’t work anymore. Make your posts user-friendly so that the visitor can gain important information from it. The visitor will share a good post with his or her family and friends. This way your website gets more exposure, which will help it rank better on the search engines. Backlinks are important for your website to rank higher on the search engines. The quality of the backlink is more important than the quantity of backlinks. Try to get backlinks from relevant websites in the same niche as yours. This will help your website immensely. Getting link from established sites are more important than getting a link from a brand new website. For example, a link from CNN is considered gold compared to a link from Joe’s Phoenix blog. With a little time and effort, you will begin to see some nice movement upwards in your website rankings. If you need some help or would like quicker results, give Solar Flare Marketing a call today. What a Boomerang Expert Taught Us about Multivariate Testing

by Chris Gregory @ Jacksonville Local SEO Company | PPC & Social Media Services

Barnaby Ruhe is a fan of freestyling during boomerang competitions and is credited with inventing the foot catch. To accomplish this, Barnaby needed to throw his boomerang and then accurately choose where to lie down on the grass to catch his returning ‘rang between his feet. At the time, this seemed radical because everybody knew that boomerangs were caught by hand, but now this catch is incorporated into international rules. He compares that to the Harlem Globetrotter brand of basketball […]

Zero Google Rank to #10 in One Day

by Brian Nagele @ SEO Digital Group

I wanted to quickly share with you some results from a new client we just brought in to our Philadelphia SEO Digital Group portfolio.  Restaurants need lead generation for private events and groups.  It helps fill space and adds tremendous value to their top line revenue.  James restaurant in Center City Philadelphia is no different. The following results are not typical.  Usually it takes time for SEO to kick in and the website to start gaining rank on the first page or two.  On March 16th, we worked our magic on the James Restaurant website and I was pleasantly surprised to see after one day of optimizing their rank jumped from no rank, to #10 on the highest spot.  We are only 10% into our regular SEO program and happy to see immediate results. They are now ranking better than a close competitor, who has a few years lead on them and many more backlinks. We’ll update this post as we improve their SEO and get them ranking for specific keywords which will help generate private dining leads.

Is your SEO agency a hero or a bum just taking money?

by Brian Nagele @ SEO Digital Group

There are many self proclaimed SEO guru company’s, consultants and agencies out there.  So how do you cut through the crap and figure out if your agency is working on your interests or just their monthly check? I’m not claiming to be the best at digital marketing.  I am constantly learning and improving my craft to be the best I can be. Having said that, I have been running into a tremendous amount of businesses that already have an “SEO Guy” when I meet with them.  Fair enough. Already have an “SEO Guy”? Investigate here to see if your website SEO Guy is helping your business or not. We all need Search Engine Optimization and I’m glad you took the first step to doing something about it.  Its essential to most of our businesses in acquiring new customers. Do you wonder if its working?  Do you know how to see if your “SEO Guy” is doing a good job? I need to also say, SEO is a long term solution.  Rising in ranks rarely happens over night, it usually takes a few months.  If your SEO Guy just started a few weeks ago, give them another month or so to get moving.  Its a lot of up front work for the first few weeks.  Then it picks up steam in month three to six, if properly set up.   Here is my 3 step test for your current SEO agency   Most websites I come across only rank for their own business brand name.  Not their service offerings for which customers are searching. This blog post covers just the very basics of SEO and not all the facets involved to competitively rank your website.  If you are paying an “SEO Guy” and do not pass this test, time to shop for another “SEO...

Local SEO: DIY vs Hiring an Agency vs Hiring In-house

by John Leo Weber @ Geek Powered Studios

How much you spend on local SEO can range from a few hundred dollars per month (if you go the DIY route) to tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars per month based on what services you are paying for, as well as how many physical offices or locations you have. For example, a small time car mechanic with one shop could get reasonable local SEO work for $500-$2,000/month from a reputable company, but a large corporate chain of stores like Dominos that has thousands of locations could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on their local SEO. Since there is such a big range, let’s break it down and look at the options as well as the costs associated with each...

SEO is Farming, Facebook Ads & Google Adwords are Hunting

by Brian Nagele @ SEO Digital Group

When it comes to digital marketing, my opinion is strong on integrating both long term and short term tactics to help a business grow. SEO – Search Engine Optimization – Long Term Search engine Optimization usually takes time to gain rank on the first page for Google and Bing search results.  This long term strategy, when properly executed, pays off for many months and years.  Having your business listed in the top 5 to 10 spots on important keyword searches will gain you more traffic and hopefully more customers. It takes weeks, if not months or longer to gain first page rank.  There are many factors involved and competition for the keywords is something you will need to understand.  The more competitive keywords you target the longer it might take to rank.  It is absolutely worth the wait and you should start this tactic now, if you have not already. Google Adwords – Short Term Google Adwords are a quick way to buy clicks and show up on top for competitive keywords.  Use Adwords while you are trying to rank organically.  You will see immediate results, but it is not cheap.  You will pay per click each time someone clicks your search ad, so make sure the landing page they hit is designed properly to convert. I suggest using a Google Certified Partner to execute your Adwords campaigns.  You could waste a lot of money trying to figure out Adwords and how to optimize their keyword phrase matching versus broad match. Facebook Ads – Short Term Facebook advertising is incredible for short term marketing wins.  We have great success running ads targeting custom audiences and interest groups.  Don’t confuse Facebook Ads with boosting page posts though.  I personally feel that page post boost are a waste of money if you are...

Why is Mobile SEO So Important?

by john13 @ Solar Flare Marketing – Phoenix SEO

These days, more and more people are relying on their mobile devices to go online and access the information they need. Think about it, do you look for goods or services on your cell phone? I know I do at least a few times a day. If you want to make sure that your business is able to reach these potential customers, you need to spend a little time and focus on mobile SEO. Otherwise, you could be missing out on a significant growth opportunity. You can no longer safely assume that people will be using desktop PCs to look for products or services online. In fact, it’s just the opposite. According to Google, over 60% of all searches in 2015 will be performed from a mobile device. If you are just optimizing your site for non-mobile computers, you are ignoring a huge and growing population of users. In fact, by not optimizing your site for smart phones, tablets, and similar devices, you could end up hurting your search ranking. Google and the other major search companies have recently made major changes to their algorithms to ensure that websites are focusing on mobile devices. Now, sites that do not properly optimize themselves to display well on these devices will see their search ranking go down. To avoid this fate, you need to make sure your website is mobile-friendly. By doing so, you will notice a real change not only in your rankings, but also in your conversion rate from website visitors, in a very short period of time. Your traffic will increase, and the share that is coming from mobile users will go up as well. This means that you will be reaching a lot of people whom you might not have been able to contact in the past. In addition, mobile users can find out about your products at any time of day, no matter where they may be. This means that you do not have to worry about reaching people when they are at home on their PC. Instead, you will be able to reach them at any time or place. This makes it easier than ever to get in touch with your customers. Just think about all those people that are driving around and looking at their cellphones. It’s scary to think how dangerous it is to be searching on Google while driving, but it’s also scary to think that your business isn’t showing up in any of those searches.

Google Panda Penalty – Can You Beat It?

by john13 @ Solar Flare Marketing – Phoenix SEO

In order to maintain a level of quality with the search results that are presented to those that are searching on Google, the team in charge of managing the Google search engine algorithm has come up with filters that can prevent unwanted websites from popping up. It’s very easy to game the system, so to speak, as long as you know what the rules of the game. In this case, Google comes up with filters that are referred to as penalties, and they are designed with specific agendas. In particular, the Google Panda algorithm can penalize your website by simply not having quality content on your main page and secondary pages. The lower the quality, the harder you are hit with the penalty, causing your websites to drop in their rankings, or completely disappear. There are a few ways that you can beat easily beat the Google Panda penalty, strategies that we will now present. Understanding The Google Panda Algorithm What you have to understand first is what constitutes bad content in the eyes of the Google spiders. You also must understand that Google is nothing more than an algorithm looking for identifiable patterns. If it sees, for instance, a number of websites gaining in ranking as a result of hundreds of people using the same strategy, it will then adapt to that strategy, penalize those that are gaming the system, knocking them down in the search engine results. However, if different people are using a variety of strategies, in a random but progressive format, it is very easy to rank high in any of the search engines, including Google. As long as your content is not spun or aggregated from other websites that are using identical content, you can fly under the proverbial radar and begin to enjoy top rankings. So what do you need to do to avoid the Google Panda penalty and start generating thousands of unique visitors to your website every month? Beating The Panda Algorithm There are only three things that you need to do in order to rank extremely high on the search engines for not only your main website but your secondary pages, changes that you can actually make on your own. The first step of the process is to make sure that you have quality content, articles that have not been created using a content spinner, leaving Google no choice but to examine fully the content that you are presenting. The longer the content, and also the longer the keyword that you are targeting, the more likely it is going to rank high. Longer keywords have less competition, and therefore it will be much easier for you to accelerate the ranking process, which will result in moving you to page 1 rankings. The second thing that you need to do is add videos and images to your pages, specifically those that are about the topic you are presenting. When the search engine spiders index your website, especially when following the links of […]

Steam Pub & Restaurant in Southampton PA engaged with us to boost their online presence and increase private party leads. In the first month we set up tracking and analytics to set a baseline for the current incoming lead flow.  They were acquiring 4-6 leads per month when we started. Our strategy focused on key fundamental elements: Landing page optimization for conversions Organic search traffic for event based keywords Pay Per Click Campaigns targeting local customers ready to book First step was redesigning their lead capture page.  Here is a before and after screen shot of each.   Next step was keyword search engine optimizing their landing pages for Google organic search.  We focused on different occasions like baby showers, rehearsal dinners, birthdays, etc.   In this example we captured both our Adwords campaign and the top ranking spot for the organic search. Once the organic search results reached the top spot, we added negative keywords in the Adwords campaign to save money from wasting clicks on keywords we already rank best.     The results – 850% Increase in Leads Steam Pub & Restaurant now averages over thirty leads every thirty days and growing.  March is on pace to have over 40 leads.

2017 Digital Marketing To Do List

by Brian Nagele @ SEO Digital Group

It’s a new year and the world around us changes evermore rapidly when it comes to keeping up with marketing trends and technology for your business. We break down the top items you’ll need to focus on right now to improve your top line revenue this year.   1. Goals – Have a Purpose   This is the #1 area where most businesses fail in their marketing efforts.  It’s like driving your car with no destination in mind.  It’s sounds silly, but a majority of businesses are not planning properly and setting goals, then tracking their progress towards the goals. I’m not just talking about top line revenue goals like, “We need to gross $3 million this year.”  Yes, that’s a goal and it’s a great start, but how are you going to get there?  Especially if you only did $2 million in 2016? So where can you improve? Can we set specific goals to grow the business? Improve marketing and lead generation?  Expand into a new business line?  Target an additional industry with our service offerings? Invest in Facebook Ads or Adwords campaigns for targeted marketing audiences?   2.  Tracking and Return on Investment (ROI)   What is a lead worth to your business?  What is the life time value of your customers? You learned to set your goals above.  Now let’s run programs to meet those goals and track which pieces of the programs are getting the best results, for a profit. If you can see through analytics that spending $10 on a pay per click ad with Facebook generated $200 in business for you, how much would you continue to spend on that Facebook ad?  The answer is “All of it until you are sold out!”  Because it’s working, you can see it in the tracking, so scale it up. ...

The Benefits of DIY SEO in Phoenix

by john13 @ Solar Flare Marketing – Phoenix SEO

If you have a local business website or a blog and want to improve your search engine positioning, it can be a bit harder to do learn SEO on your own. The reason for this is that most businesses are paying close attention to their products and services, trying to improve them, so they don’t have time for DIY search engine optimization. Often, it’s just easier to let an expert SEO company handle the optimization for you. If you have the time and want to learn SEO tips and tricks, then that is simple enough. With all the information online about search engine optimization, finding ways to increase your website ranking, or spread your brand across multiple platforms is much easier than you think. You just need to be willing to work hard every single day. There is no sitting around and watching everything run on autopilot anymore, because, in today’s internet, you have to keep producing highly unique content and placing it on the web.   The search engines have become wise to all the marketers who create stand alone websites that send links to each other to look like they have more traffic and more importance. Not anymore says the search engines. To keep your lofty ranking or move up the boards, you need to create new content all the time that is highly unique and cannot be found anywhere else. A good DIY SEO tip is to create a great marketing video in a subtle way. People go online looking for information and solutions to problems every day. It could be something like fixing a dishwasher, or a clogged sink or doing an oil change on your car. Any video that teaches people step by step how to fix things can help your site. You place that video on social media you are guaranteed to generate a lot of hits. These hits will eventually bring in lots of traffic if the video is shot well enough, and it is something people need. Another great DIY SEO tip is SMS marketing. The mobile marketing platforms such as smartphones, tablets, and other portable electronic devices all have internet access this day, which invites people like you to market to them while they aren’t at home. Building up an SMS list through partner websites is a great way to start sending out promotions. All of these texts you send out are usually read immediately, so you have real-time results with SMS marketing. You don’t have to be an expert when it comes to marketing and search engine optimization. But if you plan on tackling it yourself, you will need to have some web design skills and a general idea about marketing strategy. One important thing today is that all of your content be highly relevant and not copied from someplace else. Otherwise, you will never rank high on the search engines. With good tips and strong advice, anyone can be good at search engine optimization. Keep reading all the other […]

What is Adwords Quality Score & Why Does it Matter?

by Brian Nagele @ SEO Digital Group

We wanted to drop a quick note about Adwords quality score and why it matters so much in your PPC campaigns. Most business owners we speak with have tried adwords.  Most say it is too expensive and doesn’t yield results.  Most have no idea there is a quality score in adwords, nor what it is. In a recent Adwords campaign for a local real estate client, we were able to lower cost per click, which increased total clicks using the same daily budget.  More click for your buck. During the first week of the campaign we optimized the ads and landing pages to the keyword targets.  Once we could see which keywords had the best quality score, we paused the low quality keywords and let the 8-10s take the budget. This simple process lowered our cost per click by 80 cents and we were able to almost double the clicks we received per day at the same $20 budget.   Here are Google’s own words about quality score: About Quality Score Quality Score is intended to give you a general sense of the quality of your ads. The 1-10 Quality Score reported for each keyword in your account is an estimate of the quality of your ads and the landing pages triggered by them. Three factors determine your Quality Score: Expected clickthrough rate Ad relevance Landing page experience So, having a high Quality Score means that our systems think your ad and landing page are relevant and useful to someone looking at your ad. This article explains how Quality Score works. Quality Score is based on past performance data Quality Score is an aggregated estimate of how well a keyword has performed overall in past ad auctions. Based on this data, each of your keywords gets a Quality Score on...

12 Tips for Ranking Your Website in 2016

by john13 @ Solar Flare Marketing – Phoenix SEO

Google is constantly changing their algorithm and businesses that don’t keep up with the changes will be left behind wondering why their competitors have so many new customers. I’ve put together a list of some of the biggest ranking factors for 2016 so you can dominate your competition.   Mobile Friendly Over 60% of all searches in 2015 were performed by mobile devices. Also in 2015, Google had a huge algorithm update that rewarded mobile friendly sites and punished sites that weren’t mobile optimized. To check if your website is mobile friendly, check out https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/. Not only will mobile friendly website have a better chance of ranking higher, but they are much more user-friendly, so their conversion rate is typically much higher than a site that isn’t mobile-friendly. Page Load Speed Google prefers pages that load quickly for the same reasons as mentioned above. I know it drives me crazy waiting for a slow website to load and if it takes more than a second or two I’m likely to click the back button and check out another site. You can check your page speed at https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights. If your site doesn’t pass Google’s test, there are typically some simple fixes that can give it a boost in loading speed like compressing your images. Local Directories Google loves websites that are listed in local business directories for two main reasons: •A local business that has taken the time to list themselves in the directories is most likely a company that plans to be around for the long haul. •These directories like Yelp, Manta or YP.com, can send traffic to your site, and Google favors websites that get referral traffic. Especially traffic from high ranking sites like many of the local directories. Social Media Google loves websites that are set up on the top social media sites because it shows that the business has taken the time and effort to brand itself and Google LOVES brands. Also, these social media sites can send traffic to your site, and that again is referral traffic that Google favors. A third factor is that when your site is listed on social media, it makes it much easier to be shared with your friends and potential customers. Do You Know What You Competition is Doing? Knowing what your competition is doing online including which keywords they’re targeting, how much money they are spending and the amount of effort they are taking can be tracked with online tools and can give you a huge advantage in your marketing. It’s almost as if you’re a fly on the wall of their marketing meetings or maybe a top-secret spy. With your competitors marketing info, you can adjust your strategy and beat them at their own game. A site like Semrush.com can give you the insight into your competitors marketing, and you can also see which keywords are sending them their customers. Compare the sites of your competitors to your own. How do you stack up?   Website Optimization Optimizing […]

Are Your Competitors Stealing Your Customers?

by john13 @ Solar Flare Marketing – Phoenix SEO

Does it really bother you that your competitors seem to be getting new customers easily while your business is struggling? If you’re a very competitive person, as most business owners are, it’s got to sting to see the competition having success especially if your business hasn’t reached that point yet. One way to level the playing field is through SEO. Even if your competitors are larger or have more resources, you can still out rank their website in Google and show up ahead of them in the most important keyword searches for your business. You see, Google doesn’t know if you have one employee or 1,000 employees. Websites are positioned in the search results based on an algorithm. The websites that are optimized the best will be positioned higher in the search results. It’s really as simple as that. What isn’t so simple are the factors that contribute to the “perfect” optimization. How Do You Determine the “Perfect” Optimization for Your Website? Here’s where it gets tricky. There are very few people that know the exact ranking factors in Google’s algorithm. In other words, nobody really knows for sure…even most of the employees at Google don’t have access to that information. But, an experienced SEO agency like Solar Flare Marketing does have a very good idea about the most important ranking factors and how to optimize your website properly for a given set of keywords. Pay close attention to that last sentence. It’s important to note that not all search terms are treated equally. If you’re familiar with Google and their constantly changing algorithm, then you won’t be surprised to hear that based on the search query that’s typed in, the algorithm will place more importance on certain ranking factors than others. Say what? A great example is a local search vs. a national search. When you type in a local search term like “Phoenix weight loss” your search results will be different than if you type in the term “weight loss” even if you are searching from the same computer and from the same location in Phoenix. The first search is called a local search and Google will deliver its results to include more local businesses and review sites like Yelp. For the second search term, Google will deliver a broader range of results but will most likely still include some local businesses. Understanding how to optimize your site for this “geo-modifier” after Google’s recent updates can make or break the success of your website. Get it right and your site can shoot to the top of the search results. Get it wrong and your site may get the dreaded “over optimization” penalty. In Part 2, I’ll cover how you can expose Google’s secret algorithm and steal your competitors’ rankings. It’s legal, but they will never see it coming.
