Cora SEO Software measures 520 on-page and off-page SEO factors for your keywords

Attention search marketers: ALL keywords are branded keywords!

by Steve Godlewski @ Hire SEO Manager

Attention search marketers: ALL keywords are branded keywords! Look, I get it. For the longest time, PPC marketers and SEOs alike have been segmenting brand campaigns and content (those with trademarks and company names) from more generic search terms. After all, branded keywords tend to be “unicorns” — in PPC, these are keywords which generate ridiculously high CTRs (click-through rates) (40, 50 or 60 percent) and Quality Scores (9 or 10); in SEO, these are keywords that rank at the top of the SERP. Meanwhile, non-branded keywords perform like donkeys — in other words, average at best. While branded vs. non-branded is an interesting distinction, it’s also an incomplete one. Even non-branded keywords can act like brand terms when brand affinity exists. Here’s why it’s time that we re-examine some of our assumptions about branded vs. non-branded keywords in both paid and organic search marketing. Search doesn’t grow demand Generally in search marketing, the goal is to connect with people who are searching for your products and services. If you reach them at the right micro-moment, you can turn these searchers into leads and sales for your business. By definition, however, the greatest strength of paid and organic search marketing is also its greatest weakness. Search doesn’t grow new demand. Search harvests existing market demand. Specifically in terms of commercial queries, searchers need to know what they are looking for — and to have already decided to buy — in order for search marketing to be successful. So when people search, they already need to know what they want to search for and purchase. But how do they decide which ads they click on and from whom to buy? Where does that come from? Certainly, it isn’t based on whether the keyword is branded or non-branded. Brand affinity makes or breaks your search The propensity to...

Video Search Optimization (Video SEO)

by David Stansbury @ Digital Caffeine

Note: these search optimization tips work for videos on other hosting sites as well Did you know YouTube is the second most used search engine after Google itself? We receive a lot of questions about video search optimization including how to get videos to show up on YouTube and in Google search.  Here are a few pointers on video creation, titles, descriptions, tagging and promotion to gain the maximum amount of traction and exposure. Make your video stand out from the crowd while maximizing your branding: Create and display a very short (seven seconds or less) intro and outtro for each video to display your brand, logo, telephone number, website address and video title. Be sure to include a prompt within the video asking the viewer to subscribe, thumbs up and share your video with others. You may also display an unobtrusive overlay in the corner of the video to display your brand and web URL. (YouTube) Create and apply a custom thumbnail image to help each video stand out from the crowd. Suggested size 1920 x 1080 pixels for HD displays. The best time to optimize your video metadata is during the upload process. Here are a few tips to help improve how well your videos show up in search: The video title should be short (within 120 characters) yet descriptive. Think of it as a page title tag on your website. Example: “Video Search Optimization Tips and Advice by Digital Caffeine”. The video description is used to describe the video content and identify your brand using plain, natural language. Be sure to strategically include important search keywords where appropriate. You may also include a transcript of the video to improve search even more! […]

Search Engine Marketing in 2017

by Liviu Dumea @ TherapySites

Search Engine Marketing in 2017 Trying to advertise your business using search engine marketing can feel like a stab in the dark. You might be uncertain about the most effective search engine optimization (SEO) strategies, especially when the search algorithms that create search results change so frequently. In 2017, with search engine results more competitive than ever, it’s essential for your business to stand out. Read on to learn more about how you can promote your business via search engines in the next year. Focus on quality content Search engine algorithms are becoming more intelligent every year. 2016 saw Google release RankBrain, an artificial intelligence system that aims to give users more relevant search results. By focusing on creating high-quality, informative content that solves real problems your clients experience, you’ll have the best chance of ranking well. Quality content also establishes you as an industry expert, making clients more likely to choose you. Target the right keywords Keywords have a huge role to play when it comes to SEM and SEO, particularly now that search engines are so focused on providing relevant results. When picking keywords to target, you should consider both volume and competition. High volume keywords are searched for regularly, so give you a better chance of reaching larger numbers of potential clients, but they can also be the most competitive. By incorporating niche keywords into your strategy, you’ll increase your chances of attracting clients who are interested in your service. Use keywords about specific services or issues you treat, rather than just keywords designating your broader field. Specific terms are less competitive and more targeted. Make your marketing mobile-friendly With a huge amount of web traffic now coming from mobile users, it’s absolutely essential that all of your marketing efforts are optimized for mobile. Responsive design is absolutely key to this. Sites which aren’t friendly to mobile devices may see a hit in their SEO rankings from lost traffic, and from Google’s mobile-first ranking policies. Stay ahead of the curve and optimize your search engine marketing strategy by choosing the right keywords, creating high-quality content, and making […]

The Do’s and Don’ts of Business Cards

by Infinity Arts @ Infinity Arts - Interactive Web Design, Development & Online Marketing

When done right, business cards can be an incredibly powerful branding tool in addition to making it incredibly easy for people to remember who you are and what you have to offer. The following business card tips will help you create a great business card that will help you capture your professionalism and attention to detail.

  • Go for a professional design. When creating your business card, it's important that you maintain a look that is consistent with the rest of your businesses branding. Avoiding blending in with the crowd by selecting a design that showcases your personal or professional brand. Research and hire a designer with a good reputation to help you create a polished design.

  • Opt for readability over creativity. While decoratively extravagant fonts can look very beautiful, they can at times be difficult to read. Instead, choose fonts that are simple and keep the font size large enough so that customers won't need to squint or take out their glasses to read your cards information.

  • Take time to select the right layout for you. Traditionally business cards are 3.5 inches by 2 inches. Keep in mind that opting for designs that feature an odd or die-cut shape can be difficult to store. Also, if you choose to print any information on the back side of your card, make sure that the information is vital.

  • Stay away from loud colors. While a pop of color is great for helping your business card to stand out, be sure that your card is standing out for all of the right reasons. Be sure to select a color that won't take away from your business logo or information. When it comes to text, it is always best to choose a dark hue like black, navy, or a very dark shade of gray.

  • Providing multiple ways you can be contacted. The bare minimum that should be included on your business card is: your name, phone number and an e-mail address. However, if space allows it, include your company name, address, website and even the logos of the social networks you are active on. The ultimate idea behind any business card should be simple and professional.

  • Triple-check for typos. Misspellings and errors are never good and can tarnish your personal brand. Potential clients may judge you on your business card alone, so it is absolutely vital that you pay attention to detail. If any of your business information changes, reprint your updated cards right away. Avoid handwriting updated info on the back of your existing cards just to save a few bucks. You should always strive to keep your business cards up to date and professionally presentable.

  • Always keep a stash of business cards on hand. Keep your business cards fresh and protected by storing them in a nice card holder. Keep a stash of cards in your car, desk, handbag and briefcase so that you always have your information available during any chance encounter that could lead to a business opportunity.

  • Avoid handing out cards to early. For most situations its best that you wait until someone requests your business card before handing it out. Offering your business card too early in a conversation, can come across as being pushy and being too forward. Instead, it is best that you build a rapport and then offer a card shortly before finishing your conversation. A nice way to segue is by saying "May I give you my card?" and hand the recipient your card with the words facing them. It is also good manner to show interest in any business cards that you receive by taking a moment to read it over before you put it away.

  • Using business cards to remember names. If you are attending a meeting and have just exchanged cards with other attendees, it helps to place the cards on the table in front of you so you can easily remember names and distinguish who is speaking.

We hope that these tips will help you to showcase your business through your business cards. For more great information and online marketing tips, be sure to stay tuned for our next upcoming blog. How to Meet Your Personal Social Media Objectives

by Infinity Arts @ Infinity Arts - Interactive Web Design, Development & Online Marketing

If you feel like you've been spending countless hours working on your social media campaign and have only garnered a handful of results, then this article may prove to be a valuable source to help you streamline your social media marketing strategy and to help you achieve your goals.

  • Creating realistic goals. When it comes to creating your social media strategy, the most important thing to focus on first is your goals. It's best to set a goal that is realistic and easy to measure. If you own a business that frequently sells 30-35 cases of a particular product per day, try starting off with the goal to sell 40 cases of that particular product each day. Adding on 5 or 10 sales is far more realistic and do-able than adding on 40 sales. Having a more realistic goal, will also make it easier for you to measure your success.

  • Research ways that you can help to better understand the wants and needs of your customers. After you have set your goals, it's time to do some research. Take a look at what you are selling and really get to understand what your target audience is. Put yourself in your customers shoes and try and think about ways that you can help them with their needs. Whether it's improving content on your site, or improving the product or service you sell, good research will allow you to tailor your services to your exact target audience and potentially boost your sales.

  • Know your traffic sources. As you work to meet your new goals, it's vital that you know where your traffic is actually generated from. Knowing exactly where your traffic stems from will play a huge factor in the way you utilize social media to maximize your goals. Consider implementing your social media strategy for a month or so and then compare those results to the month prior using Google Analytics. Analytics will let you know which social networks really drive your website traffic allowing you to better understand where your efforts should be focused.

  • Develop your content strategy. Using the above tips and suggestions, it's time to take all of the information you've compiled and turn it into informative and helpful content that your target audience will appreciate. It's best that when you begin to create your content that you make a list of ideas and concepts. As each concept begins to develop, add it to a content calendar to help you keep track of when you are posting and to also line up your posts with ongoing trends. As you begin to execute your social media strategy, the content you publish should help your customers and in turn help you obtain the goals you've created.

If you've come to feel that your social media efforts have yielded few results, take a shot at refining your strategy through the use of the above four steps. Monitor what you do and take note of where your successes are and where attention is needed more. For more great information on online marketing and ways that SEO management or PPC management can help your business, please get in touch with one of our knowledgeable consultants at 1-951-541-9304 or TOLL FREE at 1-866-734-9946 today.

Simple Ways to Boost Your YouTube Videos

by Infinity Arts @ Infinity Arts - Interactive Web Design, Development & Online Marketing

With the rise of multiple social media outlets growing in popularity as a vital tool and asset for business marketing, it can be quite easy to forget that YouTube isn't just for watching clips of funny mishaps, cute puppies or the latest music videos from your favorite musicians. If used and taken advantage of properly, it can prove to be a lucrative outlet when it comes to your existing clients in addition to new prospective clients. YouTube gives business owners an opportunity to showcase their content, knowledge and brand to a larger audience. However the trick to having a video sharing network like YouTube work to your advantage is to know how to use it in the most engaging way you can. To help you accomplish just that, we've compiled a list of strategies to assist you.

  1. Starting with the basics, take advantage of the tools that are directly available to you through YouTube. YouTube allows you to include information such as a title, description, and tags (keywords). Make the most out of these areas by providing a precise keyword rich title that relates specifically to the material of your video, in addition to a detailed description about your video that also includes links to supplementary information. Also be sure to provide relevant tags that pertain directly to the content of your video.

  2. Incorporate a call to action on your video. When you create your videos you should keep in mind ways in which you will engage your audience and encourage them to like, rate, comment and share your videos in addition to clicking. A great way to incorporate a call to action in your video is by ending your video with a simple message asking viewers visit your link/site for more information.

  3. Begin promoting your videos by starting with the people you know. These people should be your friends, relatives, customers and clients and are your best source for getting your video off the ground. Ask these people to view your video(s) and share them with their own online friends.

  4. Get in board with other mainstream social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, etc... If you do not have an existing account on these social media platforms, it's important that you not only create an account, but that you strive to be an active participant and spokesperson for your business through these platforms. Utilizing your presence through these other outlets to promote your videos will only help to maximize your business' exposure.

  5. If your company's website has a blog, don't hesitate to incorporate your own videos into your blogs. The articles will serve as a great way to supplement the content of your videos and will also serve as a valuable link that can be incorporated with the call to actions of your YouTube videos.

  6. Share your videos with your existing clients and customers through your weekly or daily business newsletters and emails.

  7. Look into utilizing public relations techniques like press releases to get in touch with bloggers, editors, or reporters in an effort to produce free press/exposure. Target blogs and individuals that cater to your target audience.

  8. Do your research and get in touch with other companies with successful YouTube channels that target your same audience but are not in direct competition with you. When you reach out to these companies, try to negotiate with them to create a video collaboration as this will help both business's to capture the attention of new viewers and subscribers.

  9. If your company uses brochures, catalogs, or other forms of sales materials, be sure to begin promoting your YouTube channel on these materials in addition to your existing traditional advertising methods.

  10. If you have the budget and room for experimentation, look into the idea of using keyword advertising on Google, Yahoo!, Bing or Facebook. Keyword advertising helps to get your video to show up higher in the results of user searches for key terms and phrases that you specify. This type of advertising helps to get your information directly out there to your target audience.

When creating and setting up your videos and YouTube account, take the time to create something that you are truly proud of and that you yourself would be inclined to watch. Never rush quality, take your time, do your research and have fun being creative and informative. 5 Massive SEO and Content Shifts you Need to Master with 10 Ultimate SEO Tools For Business Owners   What can today’s industry shifts tell us about the future of SEO and content marketing? Columnist Jim Yu discusses some current trends and their implications. Google has thrown a lot at marketers in just the last five years. All of these big changes — from rolling out major algorithm updates to shifting to mobile-first — have essentially had the same goal: to provide the best possible search experience to users. Google wants to show users the best content at the right time on the right device as quickly as possible. Some marketers have struggled to keep up with and adapt to these huge changes. Meanwhile, other brands are thriving. Why? Because they have learned to stay ahead of Google’s ever-evolving algorithms by focusing on content and quality. Smart marketers know that they must have similar goals to Google. That means providing content that resonates, engages and converts — wherever, whenever and however consumers discover it. It’s important to not just look at where Google is today, but where Google is heading over the next six months, next year and beyond. If you can stay ahead of these momentous shifts, you can stay ahead of Google and your competition to dominate online in your industry. The future in search is now. It’s time to start thinking forward — and fast! Below are five SEO shifts that you need to master as we head into the latter part of this year. 1. From SEO to ‘SEO and content convergence’ Just as content alone isn’t enough to guarantee SEO success, SEO alone isn’t enough to guarantee that people will find and engage with your content. 4 Steps to Defining Your Marketing Plan

by Infinity Arts @ Infinity Arts - Interactive Web Design, Development & Online Marketing

When it comes to effective business marketing, it's important that business owners realize that there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all formula for successful marketing. Ultimately, figuring out what will work best for you and your business comes down to staying up with the times and sticking to your list of defined marketing goals and strategies. Experimentation is everything and is vital to discovering what works best for you and your business. Here are four simple steps that should help you to discover what strategy will work best for your business.

  1. Clearly define your target audience. Take time to sit down and really think about the people who use your products and or services. As a business owner there is undoubtingly an abundance of duties and responsibilities constantly on your mind, so it can be easy to overlook the people who use and need your product. This is why it's vital that you take the time to put yourself in your customers' shoes to better understand your customers' wants and needs. In doing so, you'll be able to more clearly establish who your target audience is and what they expect to get out of a product or service like yours.

  2. Establish when your customers will want or need your product the most. Keeping up on the latest news and trends is one way of determining when your product or service is wanted or needed most by your customers. Additionally, assessing your own personal sales records or keeping track of your websites traffic and conversions through Google Analytics is a great way of understanding when your customers are looking for your products or services the most. Try to compare and match your records to any corresponding trends in the news as a way of supporting your marketing strategies.

  3. Be at the right place at the right time through unique marketing strategies. Think of unique ways to market your product or services. Consider guerilla-style marketing tactics and post signs or flyers in areas or local businesses where your target audience can be found. If you have a little cash to invest, consider partnering up with a vendor or business to advertise your product. There are tons of possibilities and options to consider when it comes to marketing, so don't go crazy trying several of them all at once. Instead, narrow your focus down to one, possibly two, that you think will be the most effective for your business.

  4. Grow your idea. As you work on your marketing strategy, it is possible that you might lose excitement over your original idea. In a scenario like this it's important that you don't worry and instead simply take a few steps back or even start creating a new plan altogether. Your marketing strategy should be something that you are happy with and excited to implement. The better and more confident you feel about your strategy the more likely it is to work for you.

Turning Your Hobby into a Business

by Infinity Arts @ Infinity Arts - Interactive Web Design, Development & Online Marketing

Are you beginning to consider the option of turning your hobby in to a full-fledged business? There can be a tremendous amount of joy when it comes to earning income from doing something you truly love, but it is extremely important that you take the time to really think about what you want from yourself and your business. Here are five simple ideas to keep in mind as you are getting started.

  1. Set goals. One major way to begin to tackle the shift from hobby to business is by setting clear and defined goals for you. Your goals should be unique to you and can be as simple as striving to reach one sale each month or a goal as large as getting three or more wholesale orders by the end of the next month. However, be sure to avoid setting goals that are too high and instead set goals that are achievable, flexible and scalable. This will make it easier to know exactly what you need to do in order to meet your goals and will allow you to shift the parameters of your goals in order to help you meet them. As time moves forward, keep raising the levels of your goals.

  2. Stop and really think. When it comes to turning your hobby and passion into a full-fledged business, stop to ask yourself if you're truly ready to make that leap. Running your own business can be incredibly demanding and it's important to take into consideration the effect it can have on a hobby that once served as a creative and stress relieving outlet. If you aren't willing to invest the time and effort that your new business needs and are still treating it as a hobby, your new business will likely flounder.

  3. Get ready to take on different personas. From administrative work, customer service, advertising, paying bills, and more, operating your own business will involve the need to play the part of multiple roles in your business. One of the biggest challenges people face is finding the appropriate balance between creating and managing the functions of your business. This is another important factor to consider and should be handled objectively and with your goals in mind.

  4. Understand that success is subjective. Whether your goal is to make one sale a month or to achieve a large wholesale order each month, it's important to know that you and only you can define what success means to you. Avoid measuring your success with someone else's. While it can prove to be difficult avoiding this, it's absolutely vital that you stick to your definition of success.

  5. Never forget to stop and have some fun. Your passion and love for your hobby is what has led you to create your very own business. There's no doubt that running your business will at times be challenging, so it's important that you don't forget where your inspiration and love came from. While getting your own business up off the ground is indeed hard work, make sure you stop and incorporate a little fun in your everyday routine. Go for a walk, work on a fun new idea, or invite a friend over for coffee. Refreshing breaks will help to de-stress and remind you to have fun.

We hope that these tips will help you on your journey to running your own business. Smarter Search Marketing and Enterprise Companies are Missing Out

by Steve Godlewski @ Hire SEO Manager

Gain all the Google love so you can drive more traffic, more leads and ultimately more sales for your business. | Klicker With more than 2 million Google searches every second, Google is fast becoming THE way people search for answers. Like it or not, that could leave your business in a hard way…or sitting pretty, depending on your approach to SEO. Ranking for tasty, profitable keywords is how smart businesses are hopping on the Google gravy train…but failure to do so could leave your company in the dust. You’ve probably been burned before by a so-called Utah SEO specialist and other assorted frauds in the past. But when done right (smart), search engine marketing doesn’t just work, it works very, very well. We’ll show you exactly how with Smarter Search Marketing, designed from the ground up to get you the juicy traffic you need to get way more sales than you thought possible. Why are enterprise companies missing out on search? SEO and search marketing are a vital part of any marketing strategy, linking together channels like social media, content marketing and offline advertising. But a survey SEO and search marketing are a vital part of any marketing strategy, linking together channels like social media, content marketing and offline advertising. But a survey into the marketing channels used by large enterprises has found that 91% don’t prioritise search at all. The research, carried out by B2B research firm Clutch and digital agency R2integrated (R2i) among 500 U.S. enterprise companies, found that only 5% of companies surveyed consider paid search ads to be a top priority marketing channel in the next 6-12 months, while only 4% are prioritising organic SEO. Enterprises which don’t prioritise search in their marketing strategy are missing out on customer demand, as customers will often pull...

Combining PPC and SEO Strategies for Search Marketing Domination

by Steve Godlewski @ Hire SEO Manager

Combining PPC and SEO Strategies for Search Marketing Domination A question we are often asked is, “Which is better: SEO or PPC?” This is not a question with a general answer, as it really, truly depends on your current situation, objectives and marketplace. Certainly, we are big on SEO at Bowler Hat. My experience in this industry over nearly 17 years shows me that when done well, organic search delivers more volume at a better cost per lead than paid search. However, this is not the marketing Wild West it once was. New businesses can have a hard time getting started with SEO, and paid search can offer a fast track to search marketing when done correctly. For me, this all comes back to your digital marketing strategy. Understanding your prospective customers and how they use the web is key to determining whether paid search, organic search or a combination of both is the best approach for your unique and ever-changing situation. In this post, I am going to look at the pros and cons of both SEO and PPC as a marketing strategy and provide some tips in choosing the right channel for your business. Where both organic and paid are suitable, we will take a look at how to integrate SEO and PPC for improved results from your search marketing efforts. SEO: Improve your organic traffic What are the pros and cons of organic traffic from search engines? Let’s begin with the pros: Awareness. Visibility in search engines for your targeted keywords puts your business in front of potential customers in much the same way as if you were to advertise, and it drives brand awareness. Branding. Visibility around commercial search terms and informational queries related to your business area can have a positive branding benefit. Your brand can become associated...

Why Your Videos Aren’t Growing in Popularity

by Infinity Arts @ Infinity Arts - Interactive Web Design, Development & Online Marketing

When it comes to the thousands of videos uploaded to YouTube every day it's hard to stand out. Out of those thousands of videos uploaded on any given day, only a small portion of them will actually go on to attract thousands, millions and in very rare cases, billions of views. But what's the key to getting your videos to attract and gain views? Even if the video you created used top-notch production values and cost you a bundle of money to produce, there are still a multitude of common reasons why some YouTube videos will fail to attract an audience. Here are some of the more common reasons they fail:

  • They have been poorly produced or are simply just hard to watch because they are boring.

  • The use of unoriginal content that does not stand out from the competitors.

  • The video was not properly created to cater to its target audience.

  • The video lacks content that is informative or entertaining and basically serves no purpose to the viewer.

  • The video goes on for far too long and fails to continue to maintain your viewer's attention.

  • A lack of visually compelling imagery. Viewers look to videos because they want the imagery in partnership with the information otherwise they'd be listening to a podcast or reading a blog. Try to come up with fun creative ways to make your videos visually compelling.

  • The video is lacking a descriptive title and utilizes poorly selected tags or keywords. This ultimately makes it very hard and in some cases, impossible to find your videos using YouTube's search feature or search engine.

  • Lack of promoting or advertising to try and boost your video's exposure.

  • The receipt of "dislikes" or negative comments shortly after uploading your video. Viewers who stumble upon the video after these "dislikes" or negative comments are more likely to be driven away and find the video not worth the time to watch due to them.

Now that you are more aware of some the reasons why many videos on YouTube fail to draw the attention of an audience, you'll have a better idea on how you can avoid making these mistakes during the creation of an upcoming video. Remember, to take time to really think and plan out the imagery, information and goals of your video. The more precise you are the better your video will be. Don't worry about everything falling perfectly into place during the filming of your first few videos and instead realize that your skill and experience will develop over time.

We hope that this post will aid you in your future video productions. For more great information on online marketing and how SEO management or PPC management could work for you and your business, please get in touch with us at 1-951-541-9304 or TOLL FREE at 1-866-734-9946 to speak with a knowledgeable and highly skilled consultant.

About Google Glass

by MattCallen @ SeeYouSEO Search Engine Optimization

This blog describes Google Glass.  See our other blog about “Google Glass Impact on SEO and Social Media.”

For those of you who believe Google is taking over the world, this is one more indication that you are right. Google Glass is a revolutionary invention (of eyeglasses) that takes the ease and convenience of computer usage to whole new level…on your face. The small screen sits on the side of a bar coming out from an earpiece, so it does not obstruct your view. They can be worn while doing other things and the screen is activated on voice command, similar to the voice command technology on smart phones. The application of this technology would be similar to how people are now using smart phones, to get directions, take pictures, record video, look up information on the internet, and engage in ... SEO and social: It Does not Add Up

by Steve Godlewski @ Hire SEO Manager

SEO and social: 1 + 1 = 3   Flexibility and a willingness to fail Leading off the session we had Maggie Malek, head of PR and social at MMI agency out of Houston. She walked us through a process for getting search and social to work together. If your business is like most businesses, it’s likely that various groups tend to work in silos. This is a problem for many reasons, and it’s critical to break down those silos. To make matters worse, the current landscape is a bit of a mess: Worse still, that landscape is constantly changing. One of the other big problems we all face is that consumers have a natural ad block. Success will only come if we have a willingness to create authentic conversations with people and identify moments that matter. Malek’s overall recommended process is captured in this chart: These four pillars are key to success. But equally important is having flexibility and a willingness to fail. What that means is that there is no such thing as content without value. For example, a post that gets no engagement still provides useful information. One last key point before we start walking through the process: To create a true breakthrough, you must come from a genuine place, and what that means is that you must “define your spirit” (I interpreted this as being clear on what you stand for). Step 1: Lead with data In other words, what are people searching for? Bear in mind, though, that Google is not the only place people are searching. They use Facebook Open Graph, YouTube, Amazon, Twitter, Instagram and more. Malek also recommends that you use this data from search to act as the “head” for your efforts, and that info from social act as the “heart.” Basically, search drives...

Why It’s Important to Own Your Ad Accounts

by Jon Stroz @ Digital Caffeine

By owning your ad accounts (Google, Bing, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) business owners can avoid the difficult (and sometimes nasty) chore of separating with your ad agency (Or individual) that is managing your campaigns and technically owns your accounts. It’s happened again. We’ve received another call from a small business owner that needs help with their  online marketing campaigns;  let’s call him “Ted”. Unfortunately for Ted, he doesn’t own his own accounts. Their current digital marketing agency has the keys to his accounts and won’t turn them over. At best, Ted receives a semi-weekly report that looks auto-generated. The reports contain no insights of how his campaigns are performing, or what his agency is doing to improve them.  Ted doesn’t even understand what everything on the report means. Meanwhile, Ted has been busy working on other parts of his business for the past two years that he hasn’t given much thought digital marketing. He just kind of assumed that a lot of the traffic coming to his site was from what his digital agency was doing. Ted receives a few phone calls and lead forms each week from his website, though to be honest, didn’t know if it was from Paid Search or Organic Search. Ted wasn’t even 100% sure of the difference, but was kind of afraid to ask. Unfortunately, here at Digital Caffeine, we receive about 1 or 2 of these calls a month. While sometimes budgets are too small for us to fully help out, we’re at least able to provide a quick overview of the difference between paid and organic search as well as give some insights of what to look for, and where to start. So Really, Why do You Need to Own Your Own Ad Accounts? Most Importantly, It’s […]

SEO Inc. Announces New Link Detoxification and Backlink Enhancement to Their Lineup of SEO Services

by admin @ SEO Inc.

Carlsbad, CA (8/7/2014)- SEO Inc., a full-service Internet Marketing Optimization Company, announces new Link Detoxification and Backlink Enhancement packages to augment their popular PPC and SEO services. These new backlink cleanup offerings aim to assist businesses of all sizes achieve higher rankings, a better trust and citation flow, and increased organic traffic.

SEO Inc. began offering Backlink Detoxification services in 2013, upon seeing the rise of manual penalties given to sites for having many “bad links” pointing at them. “As Google makes changes to their algorithms, it’s our job as SEO professionals to understand them and help businesses adapt,” says Garry Grant, CEO of SEO Inc. “Of the websites that have contacted us regarding manual penalties, we have a 100% success rate in identifying harmful links and taking necessary steps to removing Google Penalties. These websites have completely recovered and are ranking again.”

To augment SEO Inc.’s trusted Backlink Detoxification services (for Google Penalties), the company now offers “Backlink Enhancement,” a service that goes further to clean up a site’s backlink profile making it more authoritative and trustworthy than before.

“Our team looks at your site’s link profile, analyzes each link pointing at your domain, and one by one, determines its authority and relevancy. We leave in only the strongest and most relevant links,” says Grant. “This helps a site’s health and, therefore, rankings.”

SEO Inc. urges site owners to regularly check Google Webmaster Tools for negative incoming links and manual penalties. “If you rank high for your main keywords one day and don’t rank at all the next, or see a substantial drop in traffic, there is typically a problem. It’s time to call the professionals at SEO Inc,” suggests Grant.

Getting Your Business Ranked on Yelp

by Infinity Arts @ Infinity Arts - Interactive Web Design, Development & Online Marketing

Yelp is widely known and accepted as one of the most used and trusted online search and review services among consumers, therefore it's vital that businesses don't ignore it. To help you make the most out of their ranking system, we've compiled a list of factors that play a role in the growth of your profiles ranking on Yelp's internal searches.

  • Make use of your entire business profile. Yelp values profiles that have been filled out to the greatest extent possible. By taking advantage of something so simple, you will easily help to boost the ranking of your site on Yelp. Provide as much information as you can, from your company hours, website address pictures, business description and more.

  • Don't hesitate to ask for reviews. While it is against Yelp's terms of service for business owners to take part in review trading scams, it's important to know that there is nothing wrong about asking your customers to consider leaving a review of your businesses performance so long as you aren't pushy about. Granted it is only best to request reviews if you are confident that the feedback will be positive in nature. Consider including a Yelp badge/widget on your website for direct access to your profile on Yelp or include information on where your customers can find your profile in your marketing materials.

  • Prevent good reviews from being filtered from your profile. One of the biggest complaints that Yelp receives are regarding the number of positive reviews left by actual customers, often being hidden behind the company's review filter. This happens due to Yelp's unique algorithm filter that tries to prevent fake reviews simply by sorting out the users that have not completely filled out their personal profiles, lack friends and have only left a single review for one business. In order to try and prevent or remedy this, business owners can reach out to their customers to let them know that their reviews aren't being seen and that by filling out their profiles more completely and reviewing other businesses the issue can be easily resolved. As the users' engagement on Yelp increases, the reviews that were once filtered will become public.

  • Respond to your reviews. In addition to thoroughly completing your business profile, Yelp also rewards business owners that are frequently active on their profile. One of the best ways to be active is by taking the time to engage with your customers by responding to their reviews with genuine feedback.

  • Consider offering a Yelp Deal. Offering an incentive encourages potential customers to visit your store in addition to boosting the visibility of your company's profile in Yelp's search results. Yelp Deals function similarly to that of Groupon or Living Social, but does not cost anything upfront. Instead, Yelp retains a small percentage of the money generated by your deal sales.

Reverse Engineering the Yelp Review Filter Algorithm

by Kevin Callen @ SeeYouSEO Search Engine Optimization

Yelp Review Filter Has Significantly Damaged (and Helped?) Local Businesses

We have heard from a very large number of disgruntled local companies that have been negatively impacted by the Yelp review filter.  The typical story is:

We got a bad review on Yelp.
We asked our clients to post (hopefully, positive) reviews on Yelp.
The good reviews get filtered and are not displayed.
Web searchers only see the bad review(s).
    We are losing business.

In an open forum like Yelp or Google+, there is no validation of legitimacy.   Would the bad reviews pass arbitration?  How many reviews are actually legitimate?  Who knows?  It really does not matter.  Open review forums are here to stay.  These forums do hurt legitimate businesses when targeted by false, fake or exaggerated reviews with a negative agenda.  At the same token, the Yelp review filter has ... How SEO Can Lower Paid Search Budgets & Create FAQ’s

by Steve Godlewski @ Hire SEO Manager

How SEO Can Lower Paid Search Budgets   Oftentimes I’m asked, “Why should I invest in paid media when I already rank in position one for many organic search results?” Well, to answer that simply, investing simultaneously in PPC and SEO can and will result in an incremental rise in your brand’s bottom line. And we have the data to prove it. The main synergy between the two lies in monitoring two factors: advertising spends shows and rankings. Whether your goal is to lower cost per click (CPC) or increase total traffic, SERP (search engine results page) position can inform how we manage paid search ads. At our agency (ZOG Digital), our teams work without silos and integrate performance data regularly. In analyzing a few accounts further as a sample set, we began to identify a correlation larger than previously understood between ad CTR (click-through rate), organic CTR and cost per click for the keywords. To verify the connection between organic and paid search, we tracked high-traffic keywords and their positions across both channels. While both have the innate ability to show success in their own right, our data points out each positively influences the other. SEO and paid search need to work together Optimal online marketing campaigns all come down to the key performance indicators. Once an SEO campaign begins, it can take time to set in and see results. Paid search’s core strength is that it allows for short-term performance with better visibility on specific queries. What binds them together is visibility on a SERP — with the right tools, marketers can influence position against competing results. It’s no secret that SEO is more sustainable long-term, but it can take a long time before results are realized. A PPC (pay-per-click) tactic can help to offset limited SEO results at the...

The Importance of Keywords

by MattCallen @ SeeYouSEO Search Engine Optimization

Keywords are Critical for SEO

What is Off-Site SEO?

by MattCallen @ SeeYouSEO Search Engine Optimization

Tying it all Together

It is important, when considering how to optimize your website for search engine ranking, to recognize the difference between on-site SEO, vs. off-site SEO.  In the last blog we talked about what we do on the website itself to improve your search engine rankings, or On-Site SEO. As a Northern Virginia SEO company, SeeYouSEO works with local businesses to improve their Google, Bing, and Yahoo rankings and help them get more clients and customers. This week we are focusing on Off-Site or Off-Page SEO.

There is a common misconception that SEO is only about optimizing your website. In reality the majority of SEO work relies on Off-Site SEO.  Once your website is fully optimized with the proper keywords, alt tags, and headings, you can direct your attention to building your presence online on a wider plane. How Instagram Can Benefit Your Business

by Infinity Arts @ Infinity Arts - Interactive Web Design, Development & Online Marketing

As a business owner there will come a time where you will have to consider how social media can be used to boost your business's performance. Today we'll be providing you with some great tips on ways that Instagram can be used to promote your business.

  1. As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. If you have a product that can be displayed in a visually dynamic way or if you offer a service that can be dramatically captured in photographs that capture and highlights them, then Instagram just may be of great use to you. If you can figure out a way to translate your passion or the benefits of the products you offer through a visual image, you have the ability to open a great door of opportunity. People love to look at interesting images, so if you can draw an audience in through your images, you can end up with a truly great advertising campaign.

  2. Gives customers a chance to see the inner workings of your business. It's human nature when it comes to wanting to know what's going on behind the curtain. Sharing images that offer a behind the scenes look at your business can really go a long way toward building a stronger rapport between your work and the people you are offering it to. Instagram offers a powerful way to intrigue and fascinate potential customers and clients by creating a photo of a product being made or an image of a service you offer being performed.

  3. Boosts customer participation. After you've built a good amount of followers, the door for encouraging them to participate opens. Through your images and hash tags, you can encourage your followers to share photos of themselves using your products or services. When it comes to social media it's all about being social, so being able to share these types of fun exchanges with your followers and customers boosts your chances of increasing sales and growing your social circle.

  4. Using Instagram to build your business's personality. Combined with other forms of social media, Instagram should become an intricate part of building your company's personality. The right images for your business can help to go a long way in crafting your persona. Never underestimate the value in letting your personality shine to your customers and clients.

  5. Building trust with your customers and clients. Instagram gives business owners a chance to literally put a face on your efforts and brand. This helps to build confidence in your business and reinforce trust amongst you and your customers. Reinforcing trust can help you develop more sales and produce more happy customers.

  6. Promoting your special events. If you have an upcoming event that you are planning to attend or if you are about to host your own special event, Instagram can be an incredibly beneficial tool for drawing support and interest in attending. The event should be documented before, during and afterward with fun Instagram photos to share. Concentrate on creating images that not only contain yourself, but that also incorporate customers or other business associates. Followers who couldn't attend won't feel like they are missing out and the images will help to boost their interest in attending other upcoming events.

  7. The opportunity to go viral. Take some time to think of really fun ways to take images. Think about company mascots, pets, adorable babies or animals doing funny things around your place of business or logo. For example, in today's social media age, all it takes is sharing one incredibly cute photo of a kitten to generate tens of thousands of leads with the potential to boost sales and customer relations. If you can create an image that goes viral, you've gained an incredible boost in exposure to your business.

With a nice dose of creativity, a plan and the appropriate social media platform, you have the potential to grow your business in new ways. SEO Inc. Removes Google Penalty for 21st Client

SEO Inc. Now 21-for-21 in Removing Google Penalties for Clients

CARLSBAD, CA – Dec. 16, 2015 – SEO Inc. has successfully removed their 21st Google penalty from their client base. This most recent removal makes it their fastest to date.

SEO Inc.’s client, an online retailer earning thousands of dollars in revenue each year, received a manual penalty from Google earlier this fall. SEO Inc.’s team tackled the issue right away, and within weeks had discovered the problematic links in the client’s backlink profile. After removing the links and submitting a Reconsideration Request to Google, the manual action was removed.

“We’re now 21 for 21,” says Garry Grant, CEO and founder of SEO Inc. “Our penalty removal service has proven 100 percent effective in quickly removing manual actions and completely weeding a site of toxic links. Our team has it down to a science.”

Since introducing the service in August 2014, SEO Inc. has fine-tuned their link detox and penalty removal process. “We’ve had new clients come to us because we could get them out of their Google penalty,” says Grant. “We’ve continued to deliver on that every single time.”

As 2015 comes to a close, SEO Inc. is proving they are experts in the field of SEO services and internet marketing. With a new Google Penguin update on its way early next year, SEO Inc. urges everyone to clean up their site before their rankings suffer.

“Our diligence toward meeting our clients’ needs, as well as our adherence to Google’s Webmaster Guidelines makes us a standout SEO company,” says Grant. “2015 has been phenomenal, and now we’re looking forward to what the new year has in store for us!”

SEM How to Improve Account Performance and Buyer Personas

by Steve Godlewski @ Hire SEO Manager

SEM How to improve account performance   Smoothly running and decently performing SEM campaigns require getting three things right: tracking, targeting and a good user experience. If you can master these three areas, your campaigns will “deliver the goods” and get you conversions at a decent cost per acquisition (CPA), or sales at a solid return on ad spend (ROAS). Tracking Tracking is everything. First, how can you spend thousands of dollars on your company’s behalf if you can’t track results to prove you were successful? Second, if you aren’t tracking results, then how can you optimize your campaigns by improving poor ads, favoring successful ads and using targeting methods such as keywords or demographic segments? Tracking is often overlooked or not properly maintained; without it, in the long run, most organizations will not allow you to have a budget. And if you can’t prove your results, you will get a reputation as a “bad steward.” If you’re using AdWords in combination with Google Analytics (GA), you have the luxury of using “autotagging,” where Google automatically appends a parameter with a string to all of your ads’ URLs. This unique string is a magical index number that allows GA and AdWords to look up dozens of pieces of information about the searcher’s click — city, browser, campaign, ad group, search term and so forth. It literally is a simple checkbox you enable (assuming you go through the multiple steps required to get GA to talk to AdWords as well, that’s a bit more of a challenge, as you need to set a few things on each end). If instead you’re using Facebook (or LinkedIn Ads, or any Display advertising platform), since those are not Google products, autotagging is not an option; instead you must append “utm” codes for Google Analytics to...

Combining PPC and SEO Strategies for Search Marketing Domination

by Steve Godlewski @ Hire SEO Manager

Combining PPC and SEO Strategies for Search Marketing Domination   Organic or paid search — they’re fundamentally different yet two sides of the same coin. Having tunnel vision for SEO or PPC doesn’t make much sense when they both help you get to where you want to Tyler Thursby 4.3K READS Throughout my time working in search marketing, one question inevitably comes up when pitching a new client: “Should we focus more on SEO or PPC?” Consider that question for a moment. Organic or paid search — they’re fundamentally different yet two sides of the same coin. Having tunnel vision for SEO or PPC doesn’t make much sense when they both help you get to where you want to go. What binds the two strategies together is their purpose: increasing visibility. It might help to think about this in the context of a basketball team — mostly because I like to make basketball-related analogies. Hear me out. Standard teams have five people on the court, typically specializing in one area: shooters, defenders, and facilitators. The best teams find a way to utilize everybody on the court. See where I’m going with this? It’s not much of a stretch to apply this principle to search marketing. Ignoring an entire medium is kind of like ignoring players with specific talents on your team. It doesn’t matter if you’re the Michael Jordan of paid search either — this kind of self-imposed handicap only limits what you’re capable of achieving. Just like MJ needed Scottie Pippen, so too does SEO need complimentary forces like PPC. The Ugly Word: Budget Awesome basketball analogy aside, what I’m saying isn’t exactly a revelation. So, assuming much of this is common knowledge, you certainly have to wonder: why do so many businesses set a priority between SEO and PPC? I personally...

Email Signature Mistakes to Avoid

by Infinity Arts @ Infinity Arts - Interactive Web Design, Development & Online Marketing

When it comes to emails, there is one element that is often times overlooked - the email signature that you use at the bottom of your emails. Email signatures are your final opportunity to leave a lasting impression on your readers. Your email signature line is important and should be thought of as an additional opportunity to standout and shine. Get the most out of your email signature by avoiding one of these five common mistakes:

  1. Listing out every possible way that you can be reached. Including a way to reach you is one of the most vital items to include in your email signature. However, listing out multiple phone numbers, email addresses, websites or social media networks can be viewed as being overwhelming, confusing and even desperate to your readers. Instead, use your signature to let your readers know what the quickest way you can be reached is. Don't include an address in your signature unless you have an actual physical retail store or office where you can be visited at. As far as your social media networks, only include one or two icons from the networks that you use most frequently.

  2. Using an image for your signature. There are email providers or devices that feature a default setting that can cause images in emails to be blocked. If your signature is designed using an image that includes all of your contact information, there is a chance that some of your recipients won't see it. If you feel compelled to use an image, be sure to use alt text behind your image. This will allow your information to still be seen if the image is blocked for whatever reasons.

  3. Forgetting about small screens. It's safe to say that a huge portion of emails are being read on readers mobile devices. Since our thumbs are the new mouse when it comes to mobile devices, it's important that you design your signatures to be easily accessible. If a portion of your readers avidly checks their emails via phone, be sure your links can be easily viewed and clicked on.

  4. Adding in non-sense information. It obviously makes sense that if you have a blog or online business that you want to boost your sites performance. Including a link to your site in your signature is a great idea; however, be sure that your site content is actually relevant to the person(s) that will be receiving your email.

  5. While traditional signoffs like: "Sincerely," "Take Care," etc... are reasonable ways to close your emails, they won't get you noticed. Instead, consider incorporating a bit of your own personality in your signoffs. Letting your personality shine through, adds a special touch and allows your readers to see you in a more personable light.

These simple tips are sure to help you create a better optimized email signature that will impress and stand out. For more great information on ways online marketing can be used to improve your business, stay tuned for our next blog or contact us directly at 1-951-541-9304 or TOLL FREE at 1-866-734-9946 to speak with knowledgeable consultant regarding our SEO management or PPC management services.

Establishing Your Business on Review Sites

by Infinity Arts @ Infinity Arts - Interactive Web Design, Development & Online Marketing

Online ratings and reviews are among the most influential source of information for consumers looking to make online or in-store purchases. In today's market, customers won't hesitate for even a split second to stop and do their research when a certain product or service has caught their interest. In a strong e-commerce world, customers have come to rely less on the advertisements they see and instead rely heavily on online search results and opinions. When it comes down to it all, reviews signify validity, so it's vital that your business secure a presence on online review sites and forums. To help you we've put together a few simple tips to help you get started with online review sites.

  • Get yourself out there. If you don't already have your business listed on all of the major directories, it's time that you do. Make sure that you are on the most well-known consumer review/social sites such as: Angie's List, Yelp, Yahoo Local, Facebook, Google+, etc... Pay added attention to Facebook, Google+ and Yelp by creating robust pages that include imagery, videos and detailed business info. Also consider posting your profile on industry-specific/focused review sites. If your business has multiple locations, it would be wise to create individual pages for each location so each location can develop its own local voice and presence.

  • Don't be afraid to encourage your clients and customers to speak up. It should go without saying that you should always maintain a stellar level of products and services to your customers. Outstanding service is the most natural inspiration for positive reviews. Another great tactic to encourage your customers to write reviews, is by including web links to some of your online profiles through customer receipts, online invoices, or even in your e-mail signatures.

  • Deal with your negative reviews. Any business owner will tell you that there's no way to escape the receipt of an occasional negative review. How you handle it is what makes all the difference. The best thing you can do is to simply apologize and try to make things right. While criticism might sting, it's better to your show your customers that you genuinely care and appreciate their business. Responding to negative review in a pleasant and constructive manner, not only benefits the customer who reviewed your business, but also showcases to other readers that good customer service is important to you.

  • Take advantage of reviews as an indirect selling tool. As we mentioned earlier, new potential customers trust and search out online reviews. Why not make it easier for them to choose you by simply adding "Testimonials" tab on your current website, so that customers have the information right at their fingertips.

If you are trying to sell a product or service, it's vital that you realize how significant a role that online reviews will play for your business. We hope that these simple tips have helped you to beef up your business's online review site presence in addition to boosting your businesses performance.
