Groet!

Growing a company’s customer service operation is never an easy job. Usually, great customer service execs who’ve already managed a moderate amount of scale are called upon to maintain performance across even greater scale.
Unfortunately, creating great customer success departments requires a hands on approach that just isn’t possible as the team grows.

I will be traveling in a few days to spend several days with a well known SEO speaker and author friend who invited me out to conduct a series of podcasts on UX, SEO, accessibility and everything in between. I won't say who that person is until we get into the formal promo side of things.
It's been years since I did a podcast. I believe my first one was with Eric Enge, years ago. I've been on Webmaster Radio (when it was called that) many times, and of course, video interviews at conferences.
Podcasts are still fairly new to me as a user. I tend to go for visuals like video and am still a book lover. I want to do a great job at this and am seeking your pointers both as listeners and doers.

Ways To Do Off-Page Seo For Pages Other Than Blog Articles?
by @ High Rankings Forum
Wed Dec 16 14:04:27 PST 2015
Greetings SEO Community!
I'm hung up on a question with regards to SEO strategy.
My understanding of SEO so far is that your job is to appeal to users first and foremost - if you're content is valuable, it will get shared and linked to, eventually pushing you up on the rankings.
What about pages on your website that are not particularly informational / useful for solving an issue for a user? How can one optimize that page for SEO?
Example:
Say you run a construction service. Once can do extensive keyword research on various topics that people are asking questions about related to construction, post helpful guides and tips to answer their questions, and eventually push their way up to the top.
With regards to promoting say, a landing page for their construction service, how would one go about that?
Would it be just internal links from your blog to point to the landing page?
Figuring out clever ways to get backlinks directly to that landing page from high quality domains?
Not suggesting one goes for link baiting or any practices Google does not condone of course.
I also recognize there are many on site seo factors that play a big role - this question is more for the off site seo factors.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Dates In Serp's - Good Or Bad?
by @ All Forums
Thu Jun 29 10:55:05 PDT 2017
I'm pretty much behind on SEO these days. I just get on with running my site. I've only just noticed that Google is showing the date of my original article in its results. On one search I'm number 2, and the first thing written on the snippet is the date (2013). I've just spent a week totally rewriting this article so the date is misleading.
I have used some code to display the date my articles were last updated right under the title, which is presumably good. So this is fine, people can see when it was originally written and when last updated. But I've noticed there are lots of articles and plugins around to hide the date from Google. I instinctively think that's not a good idea. But at the same time I can also see that if searchers see my article written in 2013 next to one with a 2017 date I might lose out?
What's the thinking about this please?

Goedemiddag,

Hi,
I'll briefly explain my dillema....
I've been working on a site and the ranking have been going up nicely. I've set up the Homepage to focus a specific term (I won't add it here to avoid being kicked off the forum). I've set up other pages to focus on other terms. So the issue I've just realised is that my homepage is ranking for the terms my other pages are set up for. It's not optimised for those terms but it just happens to be that some of the words are used in the homepage content.
Should I avoid using any of the words that other pages are optimised for in the homepage content? Will doing this help my other pages to be seen by Google?
It would be great if someone could answer this as I'm pretty stuck on this point.
Thanks,
Nate

Hey Rosy,
Interesting question. I took a quick look at the articles you have on your blog, and although there is great content there, it reads like a very technical blog. I went for an event once and realized some people don’t even know what the term SEO means. This possibly means that there may be many on Tumblr who don’t get what you’re talking about. What you should do is build a customer persona – read our article here: http://2stallions.com/customer-personas-for-business/
It’s possible you may potentially rethink your articles on your blog based on your persona! Based on your persona, you may also realize that your ideal traffic may not be where you’ve been currently sharing your content but somewhere else!
Try and reach out to other blogs that you see yourself parallel to that has your audience visiting them and write a guest post there! That may help drive some traffic back to your website as well.

Marketers Rate Their Conferences
by @ All Forums
Tue Jun 20 11:00:29 PDT 2017
It's no surprise that Pubcon rates as the number marketing conference. There are some interesting findings in this report however, especially when broken down by gender.
The most important factors for women are cost, speakers, and location.
For men, it's cost, networking and speakers.
My first thought is that location is my number one reason for NOT going to conferences anymore. I hate Las Vegas. It's across the country for me. So PubCon is out. So is MozCon, which is on the west coast. They were the only conferences in the top 5 rated that I recognized, but I'm also not technically a marketer.
The top topics are not in my ball park either. Even so, social media marketing is the number 1 topic. SEO is the last.
I personally always supported Brett and PubCon because he allowed related skills as topics for speakers, so that opened for me to give talks on conversions from the UX side. Me, Matt Bailey and Shari Thurow used to speak on SEO/IA/Conversions and were eventually shut out because UX was unwelcome.
The article mentions cost for self employed folks like me. It is just not economically feasible for many of us. Unless there is an event near Phila, I don't bother to even investigate it. Speakers are not paid and some conferences ask them to pay for their own time slots.
The men also rated networking in the top 3. I liked seeing old friends but networking is not a personal strength. Besides, nobody wants to talk to the usability person, ha ha.
Can't wait for marketers to figure out that mobile design and accessibility compliance are what they need to save their jobs.

Hello everyone
According to my experience when anyone makes a website he/she wants to get their website better, user friendly and want their site to rank high in goggle search engines. For this purpose not only content of the blog matters but also getting several backlinks from other sources. This article is important in the context of getting backlinks in order to increase the SEO.
Relevant Keywords: When the writer writes the blog the most important thing for him/her is to keep in mind is the usage of keywords. The usage of keyword in the content title, in between the content along with the link in between can help tremendously to improve SEO.
Getting good links from good sites: In order to the increase the backlinks to increase the SEO getting good links from old, efficient and trusted websites is must. This is because as it can be seen by Google that a site getting backlinks from a reliable website would be genuine and user friendly.
Creating a Video: Videos are a great way to advertise a website. This is because as it is considered an efficient way to get backlinks. If you are providing a quality content with efficient information the reader will also like the blog and can share your content further with his contacts. Thus results in creating more backlinks.
Hope you guys find this information useful.
Warm Regards

Hi allen,

However. I will say I have had great results from posting in forums similar to this. I have gained friends & clients from being an authoritative voice on the subject. Instead of posting "great post thanks" or a one line thought, I usually ramble (such as now :D), sure my post count isn't in the gazillions, but I probably make more money selling my services in a week than people sell their signature links make in a lifetime.
So my advice, is that forums such as this have things that are more valuable than SEO backlinks, they have people, that can (and will) help you in whatever you choose to venture. All you have to do is to actually open up to them, and voice your thoughts articulately.

We’ve talked a lot about customer experience (CX) lately, but I think we need to take a step back for a moment and talk about something a little broader: customer success.
Customer success (CS) doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. In fact, people often conflate it with CX, treating both terms as a catch-all for everything that goes into making and keeping customers happy.

The Best Web Hosting For SEO: How To Get The Most For Your Money
by @ SEO Forum - Webmaster & Marketing Forums - All Forums
Sat Sep 09 12:03:31 PDT 2017
SEO web hosting may be one of the most important factors in how your site ranks, thus, it’s imperative that you make the right choice when you need a host. Don’t overlook the significance a host has and don’t skimp on the services they can provide you: This could mean the difference between a site that ranks and performs well for you and one that tanks.
The Speed At Which Your Site Performs
Speed is an incredibly important factor in SEO, especially when you consider that the average reader won’t wait more than a couple of seconds for a site to load before they leave it. In fact, Google recommends that you keep your load time under three seconds for mobile sites, something that can be quite challenging. Since more than half of all searches are mobile, you need to ensure that your web hosting has you up and loaded in the shortest time possible.
Take advantage of free online website speed testers, such as the “Think With Google” tool; not only will it test your speed on mobile and desktop and rate your mobile-friendliness, it will also offer recommendations on how to grease your site so it moves faster. Be positive the host you choose can support you on this issue.
The Security Your SEO Web Hosting Provides
Few things are worse for a webmaster or business owner than logging onto their site, only to discover that it’s been. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon scenario. abound online and they’re just waiting for a vulnerable site to victimize. Don’t let it be yours. Choose a host who has an outstanding reputation for security and is willing to back up their promises of protecting you with a full security suite and if possible, a guarantee.
While there’s ultimately no such thing as a site, you should expect a host to provide the latest tools and tricks available to keep the bad guys out.
Uptime
When your site isn’t available to your customers and readers, it’s also not available to the major search engines. This means strikes against your site and that can go a long way toward bringing down your ranking, particularly if your uptime is consistently compromised. Search engines don’t like to disappoint the people conducting searches, so if they look for and kind find your site repeatedly, they may stop listing you and that could easily be fatal.
A Solid Reputation For White-Hat Practices
Eventually, Google catches on to everything, including all the black-hat shenanigans that go on around the web. If you’re not highly selective about your new host, you could end up with someone disreputable, meaning they’re not well-respected by all the major search engines. Don’t accept any host that makes suspicious promises about seemingly miraculous accomplishments and trust industry experts in their recommendations for hosts whom you can trust your business to.
Look for a host with consistent up time and make certain you have the analytical tools you need to monitor your site’s availability. You want it up and running 24/7, but since you can’t check when you’re sleeping, you want the tools that can do it for you.
When you need web hosting for an important site, it’s crucial that you take all the factors of SEO into consideration before choosing. Select an effective host that supports you in every aspect of operations and you’re site is good to go; skimp or settle and you’re committing SEO suicide. It’s that simple.

Seo Refactor Ecommerce Site From Selling In One State To Multi-State
by @ High Rankings Forum
Sun Nov 29 14:14:02 PST 2015
Hello,
I have an SEO question about an existing successful ecommerce website that I manage that has achieved some very high Google organic search rankings for many highly competitive keywords, relating to the sale of some products in New York State, and would greatly appreciate your advice.
To avoid any claim that I am trying to promote the actual website by posting this question, I will refer to a hypothetical domain name and company industry.
This question does not pertain to paid ads or landing pages for paid ads... only to Google organic search results.
The fictitious domain name is: buyshoes.com and it sells shoes to the public on its ecommerce website.
The website has been live for about 2 years.
When the website was originally conceived, the target market was to sell its products only to people who live in New York State. It was not contemplated that the website might one day also be used to sell shoes to people who live in other U.S. states. Therefore, the homepage and its meta description tag and title tag, and almost every other page in the website specifically mentions New York State and locations in New York.
The site's homepage currently ranks very high in Google organic search for our targeted keywords for New York search results. Most of the backlinks for the site point to the homepage. The current homepage converts users into purchasers very well.
The situation we now encounter, is that we want to start selling our products to people in other states. Due to the nature of our products, the products will have unique characteristics for each U.S. state that they will be sold in.
So, the end state of redesigning the site would be that the common user experience that the homepage would only refer generically to "selling shoes" and we would add a way on the homepage for the user to select which U.S. state they live in to buy shoes, and then we would build a separate product page for each U.S. State with the directory structure: buyshoes.com/state/new-york/productName buyshoes.com/state/new-jersey/productName etc. Each product page will be highly optimized (SEO) for the U.S. State in which the product is sold.
My SEO question:
If we refactor the homepage as described above so that it no longer mentions (anywhere) anything relating to New York State (e.g, remove all references to the words New York, NY, NYC etc) and create a new screen for products sold in New York State (and move all of the New York related content from the existing homepage to the new New York state specific page), what will happen to the website's organic search rankings when users search for our targeted New York state keywords, e.g, buy shoes in New York?
Will the new page for New York products acquire the same high rankings in the Google organic search results that the homepage previously ranked for? If yes, how long do you estimate it will take Google to swap the ranking of the homepage for the ranking of the new New York State page?
I am very familiar with the SEO ramifications of "replacing or renaming" an existing page with a new page with 301 or 302 redirects. However, that is not the situation I am now confronting (leaving the existing page in existence, and merely moving all of the targeted non-generic keywords from the existing page to a new page).
Google indexes our site daily and I know that it can take Google days, weeks or months to attribute the highest possible organic search ranking to a page as a result of its onsite and offsite SEO.
Assume we rolled out this major change to the site today, my hope would be that at some point, (days? weeks?) that the new page for New York products would simply replace the site's homepage in the Google organic search results for New York searches without losing any of its ranking. Do you think this is what will happen?
Naturally, I am most concerned that after we roll out this major change to our website, that Google may not simply replace displaying our homepage with the new page for New York products with the same search ranking, and we might completely or significantly lose our high search result rankings for our products sold in New York State. (for the purpose of this question, assume that we will not have new quality/authoritative backlinks to the new page for New York products for at least several weeks or more).
While it is great that we have used all white hat SEO over a year or so to finally achieve very high Google organic search results for our targeted keywords for our products sold in New York State, we are very concerned that we may lose these rankings if we expand our business and refactor our website as described in this question.
Naturally, I would love to hear from anyone who has gone through a similar website redesign as to how it affected their organic search results (in the short term and long term), but all feedback, advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your insights, help and suggestions!

Hello guys
According to my view Tons of companies and individual business owners reach more customers and increase their sales through Internet marketing. A few of the top ways to sell through Internet marketing include search engine optimization, pop-up ads and articles.
As part of your internet marketing tactic, think about developing a web page for public relations. Place content on this page that could have been published online. Using this tactic is a wonderful way to increase the visibility of your business.
You should have a URL that can be recognized. Try finding a domain name that lets you incorporate your business name or brand. Of course customers can search for you on Google, but it is much better if they can type an easy-to-remember address into their browser.
In order to get into eCommerce, you will have to first build a website. This needs to be the beginning step for anyone who is creating an online business. The more attractive your site appears, the less work it will be in the future.
According to Psychology research reports involving Internet marketing and website design may be worth your time to read. These psychological responses can greatly influence the way that site visitors connect with your brand. This includes every detail of your site, from colors to layout. If you know enough about this behavior pattern, you can use this to your advantage in making your business more successful.
Creating internal links which include keywords is another good SEO practice. As the owner of a website, you always want to keep visitors occupied and providing them with additional posts that are relevant and interesting will accomplish just that. Internal linking keeps consumers reading and provides more opportunity for your site to get more search engine hits.
While Internet marketing can seem similar in some ways to traditional marketing, it also has major differences. As an example, the search engines might alter the way that they rank WebPages by shifting their attention from title tags to some other element of the page instead. If this were to occur, you would need to direct your efforts more towards other options, like viral video marketing.
Closely evaluate the actions of your top competitors and analyze that data to formulate your own plans. If you find yourself wanting to be a potential customer of the competition, then obviously their advertising is working. Therefore you need to exploit their methods for your own products.
For instance, if your business focuses on selling websites, you might want to partner up with writers that give their customers discounts. Partnering up together will help you appeal to a broader audience.
When your website is created effectively, it will help you become more visible. If visitors can navigate your site easily, then they are more likely to visit several pages of it.
Find out how people talk about your products, and use this tips in your own marketing campaigns. Potential customers will have more confidence in your product if they feel that you speak their language. By using the right language, you will be able to reach the right audience.
Subscribers will be your main source of increased profit. Split testing is an effective way to determine best methods since it offers different web pages to different groups. Once you complete the test you can review your statistics and determine which page converted the most readers into subscribers.
Your ad copy should provide a space for input from people who visited your site but did not purchase anything to let you know why. Their input is valuable because they will let you know if they weren’t happy with your available products, your policies or if there was another problem they experienced.
In conclusion, many businesses use Internet marketing to sell products and services. Internet marketing uses methods such as search engine optimization and advertising to generate sales interest. If you remember the advice in this article, you can use Internet marketing to seriously boost interest in your own products and services.
Hope you guys find this information useful. Do share your views which can help me to explore more about internet marketing services.
Warm Regards
RosyAnwood

Local Seo - City Name In Heading/url Of Each Page?
by @ High Rankings Forum
Tue Nov 10 07:48:29 PST 2015
Let's say my client's health clinic in Chicago has a naturopath, a chiropractor, an osteopath and a massage therapist.
And people are searching online for 'naturopath Chicago', 'chiropractor Chicago', 'osteopath Chicago' and 'massage therapist Chicago'.
They're also searching for 'pain clinic Chicago', 'fertility clinic Chicago', 'weight loss clinic Chicago', etc.
Obviously I will create a page for each of those practitioners and each of those symptoms, but my question is, is it okay (and beneficial) to include 'Chicago' in the title/heading/url of each of those pages, or is that too spammy?
Thanks in advance for helping a newbie,

Client Wants To Split Website For Pr Campaign
by @ High Rankings Forum
Sun Dec 20 11:58:26 PST 2015
This question has been asked in various flavors, ie whether it is a good idea or not to split the website into 2 separate website to run a PR campaign.
My client has a non-profit and tight budget and the last couple years have been an economical challenge. They have been known as the foremost specialists in "xyz widgets" for more than 15 years. They are planning a new puch on the widgets but it has been planted in her head that they should separate xyz widgets into its own website because you can't run a PR campaign targeting them on the current site. She plans to run this by some marketing specialists and perhaps SEOs who specialize in non-profits.
I challenged this line of thought (splitting resources, more SEO effort, more marketing, borrow from Peter to pay Paul, more administration, etc). It may be that an agency would prefer to use their own CMS due to comfort level but I don't see why your can't PR a service/section of a business/website.

One Site Or 19?
by @ All Forums
Fri Sep 15 17:27:10 PDT 2017
I have a client that instead of having one comprehensive site, decided to put up 19 identical sites -- one for each city that they wanted to target.
I had advised that having one site that was a one-stop-shop for their services with individual targeted city pages was the best way to go -- especially when we are talking WordPress sites that need to be updated and monitored. But they are DIYers and DIY'd each site. I loaded up the theme and plugins and they took it from there. All the sites have blank pages (or coming soon), blank Blogs so no content is being added. They are basically brochurewares. Duplicate everything just with "cityname" changed.
Because they didn't pay attention to updating, the majority of their sites got hacked. I cleaned all the sites told them how they have to approach maintenance, and provided recommendations (UI, content, blah, blah, blah) moving forward. Nothing has changed. They either don't have or don't want to spend the money and/or time. None of the site are https either. They didn't like hearing my advice on that.
So that's the backstory...
I'm here to get input from you guys about what is the best approach at this point in time from an SEO POV. I believe moving to one https comprehensive site is easier to manage, optimize, track and keep secure. And less expensive in the long term. Then, point/forward the 18 city domains to each city's page on the new site.
They do not want risk any rankings they have for their city sites. I asked how they had been tracking rankings and not surprisingly their answer was they search for themselves to determine where they rank. Ugh.
These are nice folks and I would really like to help them succeed. So next week I've scheduled a telecon to go over their options.
How would you handle this situation if the client were yours? Am I on the right track? Thanks in advance for your advice!

Is It Good Practice To Have The Questions/answers On Your Faq Page Use
by @ High Rankings Forum
Tue Dec 08 05:43:17 PST 2015
I'm in the process of updating my website and currently I have each question within my FAQ page load on it's own page this way I can setup the meta description/keywords tags properly for each question.
So for example, I would have my question be setup as the <title> tag on the page, the question answer would be the <meta description> on the page, and I would save different keywords for this question in admin that would be saved as the <meta keywords> tags.
However, in my new website design all the questions are listed on one HTML page where it just expand/collapses the different question/answers; so I'm not able to setup each question with their own meta description/keywords tags.
Is it good practice to have the questions on your FAQ page use their own meta tags for SEO?

Local SEO is an efficient way to market your Business Online. It helps businesses to raise publicity of their products and services online to the native local customers at the time they are searching for your services. People use local search everyday to find the top services in their area. You can facilitate and get found regionally by these potential customers and increase your sales. People try to use local search strategy by going through Yellow pages, Just dial ,and reviews on local sites to check the best services and select the one which has good reviews.
What a search Engine takes into consideration for their local search results are mentioned below.
On Page Signals:
Local SEO Ranking mainly depends on NAP(Name, Address and Mobile Number) of the business which in turn depends on Domain authority, Page authority, Title,Description,H1 tags, URL, Keywords, Content and many more.
My Business Location Signals:

How Should Community Managers Handle Potentially Offensive Content?
by Bradley Chalupski @ Vanilla Forums Blog

Effective community managers are constantly trying to strike the right balance between allowing members to express themselves freely and the need to adhere to community standards of conduct.
Sometimes, like in the example of a member posting speech or an obvious hate symbol, finding that balance is easy.
Forum signature links - unethical SEO?

I think the original question is quite valid.
With everyojne trying to do better in google and other search engines, the temptation to post for the sake of posting, but really just for the sake of a sig backlink is definately there.
As to providing valid input etc... with a comment/post not of course it isnt unethical but I think few people here can deny the way forums posts are "misused" so often. Those posts with sig backlincks and not other value dilute or give unfair/unbalanced input (no matter how small) into the compettition for rankings on behalf of the persons site vs another site not indulging in such practices. In addition it adds "junk" to forums that all of us need to read through and learn to subconsciously filter just to get to the useful stuff.

I think the first priority of this Seo forum on ttps://Seo-hacker.org would be to provide answers to current Seo challenges. I believe it’s vital to be up to date with the top google ad .
I do like the content written and story shared by the foundER although I find the algarithm changing drastically since most of these posts in 2015.
I have a newsletter well about 20 and 300 domains , parking stinks and I am wondering if there is anyway to monetize these with traffic and if PBN’s still work or if I must use landing pages and proxies and pop under
ad people or if their is a system that is current to follow for passive income through ads .
Here is an example of a good gadget newsletter.

I have a travel website which features 15 destinations. Only one of these destinations is important to me, though I want to leave the content of the other 14 destinations on-line. From an SEO point of view, does it make sense to "noindex" all pages and sub-pages of the 14 unimportant destinations so that google sees my website as very important and focused on my 1 important destination? I think that as it is right now my 1 important destination is "diluted" and so google doesnt push it up the ranks.

Did Buying Links Work?
by @ All Forums
Fri Sep 15 07:40:22 PDT 2017
Before SEO was invented, we called it "website promotion". In the year 2000, I worked full time as a user interface engineer and moonlighted at night doing search engine marketing work and my blog, and in that same year I was trained in human factors by my employer. That was when I fell in love with UX and began Holistic SEO and UX work, discussions, and promoting the union of those two opposing (especially in those days), fields.
Years later, as links became the method for marketing, one of my clients was paying a well known marketing company $10,000 for them to find him links that they would purchase for an additional several thousand per link. We would argue all the time about how his websites weren't user friendly, but he was paying out the whazoo for links. While I was hired to redesign all of his sites, he refused to follow some of my recommendations. His sites were invasive and strictly marketing oriented, with no desire to actually connect with the humans coming to them.
I got to thinking today about all the companies who paid enormous amounts of money to buy links, even after the crack downs against the practice. I was never able to see how what they were doing was an investment that would benefit them for the long term. To me, the benefit was for the search engine marketing company that was hired.
I was thinking today about this and wondered if the companies that broke their piggy banks to buy links are glad they did.

Reply To: What tools do you use for selecting keywords?

Hello guys
Although I am too late to reply but just thought to share my experience so that it might help in future. According to my review Most of the professionals doing SEO for any site write the blogs or articles based on specific keywords to search for the information.
Choosing the correct keyword generally builds the base for the success of SEO. Selecting those keywords which are not searched by people will generally weaken the SEO and ranking will never come up. Below are some tips for selecting Keywords for SEO purpose:
Google Ad word Tool: The first point to be kept in mind while choosing the keyword is to think from consumer point of view what actually his/her demand would be and what they would search. For this purpose the best way to get help would be Google Ad word Tool. For this purpose you don’t need to pay any money. You just have to sign up and continue.
Google Trends: This is probably designed to get insight of the latest ongoing trends. This will not only provide you to get information about several products to advertise but will also to help you to improve your ongoing projects to grow well according to latest Google Trends.
Google Keyword Tool: This is considered to be the most effective and powerful tool for selecting keywords. This is because as it provides with the list of long targeted and other useful keyword terms that can be used.
Hope you guys finds the information provided by me useful.
Warm Regards
